I've talked about and shown you lots of places I've been in America, but now it's time to come back home to England and tell you about Great Britain's sights.
After easily settling into my new home, I set off to explore and found some very interesting things along the way. You remember I was sat on that little castle on the miniature golf course in New Jersey? Well, I found a real one in North Wales that has been there for over 700 years. I climbed most of the towers and my little legs were killing me by lunchtime, so we found a nice pub and had some bangers and mash. After we'd eaten, we walked down the hill to the harbour to see the "Smallest House in Great Britain".
The next day, after a relaxing evening, we got in the car and headed north to the Lake District to look for the daffodils that William Wordsworth wrote about in his famous poem. We had a waddle around Windermere on the way, just because it's one of the most delightful towns in the whole of England. When we reached Dora's Field, we found out that they weren't the daffodils he wrote about at all, but the ones he planted for his daugher. The ones he wrote about were further north at Ullswater - I'll go find them another time. We'd done a lot of walking and it was quite cold that day, so we quacked into a pub and sat down with a cup of tea before the journey home.
After visiting the countryside, we went to the city of Liverpool on a mission to find Penny Lane. I didn't know who she was, but knew she has somethng to do with insects. We first located John Lennon's house, and then ventured back to find the famous Penny Lane. We found it and were able to see all that was mentioned in the song.
The beach at Crosby was the next stop, the home of "Another Place" - 100 cast iron statues of the artist, Antony Gormley. It wasn't anything like the beaches I saw in New Jersey, which were crowded, full of activity and had boardwalks lined with shops and amusements. This one was more or less empty, except for being populated by those 100 metal people. It was an overcast day, but shortly before we left the sun broke through and we got a glistening picture of the beach.
Much more recently, I returned to North Wales to a cottage that my family were selling. While they spent their time clearing it out, I enjoyed a stroll on the prom and had a picnic on the beach that was just a few feet from the cottage. But they weren't pleased to find I'd eaten their sandwiches!
