April books

High Five

Janet Evanovich

I enjoyed this book as it only took 5 hours to read! Ok so I wanted to really read this book. However the sexual tension between Ranger and Step where is it going and why....Is there to be a competition between Morelli and Ranger for Steph?????

Hot Six

Janet Evanovich

The only question I have is who brought Ranger in????? The Book really did not resolve that question and I'm not sure who got the bounty price. I did like the addition of the Dog Bob to the story line. The Dog made the story work well and frankly gives the story a sense of Family for Morelli and Steph but the tension between Ranger and Steph is leading someplace I'm not sure I like.

Seven Up

Janet Evanovich

Ok I didn't like the ending of the Book with Steph and Ranger you know....So I don't think that I gave it a very high ranking (only 3 stars out of 5). I think Steph and Joe should just get it over and well marry. I know I know it would end the series, but well Evanovich has had a good run and should be thankful.

This link covers all the above books, with the next book coming out shortly TO THE NINES I need to only read the eight book then the ninth and I'll be ready to move on to a new series.

The Passion of Artemisia

Susan Vreeland

I've written over 4 pages and printed out 5 pictures, visited the DIA to see Artemisias' Judith and I could read so much more on this artist. So what more is there to say about Vreeland. I only wish she would write some more. I read this book thinking it was another Girl in Hyacinth Blue well it was totally different subject but frankly another well written thought provoking story that while the subject material is difficult to want to read one is drawn into the story and wants to help. There is no use in doing other things while reading this book. It engrosses every thought about what is and what should be in our world around us. You need to get this book and surf the web for pictures and history on this artist. Frankly once you start reading you'll want nothing more than to see a Artemisia up close. This is the type of writer I one day want to be!

How to Murder a Millionaire

Nancy Martin

A Good first novel in series for this writer. While I didn't think the book was spectacular it was a fast good read. Why didn't I feel it was spectacular is because it felt way to familiar with characters and two mean fighting over a women i.e.: Evanovich. Just that the story was a unique well written mystery that kept me reading and wanting more. I will probably read this series along the way.

The next book comes out July 1st and makes a great Birthday Present. If you can't wait till the next book comes out the 1st chapter is online at the above site.

May Books

Children of the Storm

Elizabeth Peters

We the library is having all the fun....I wanted so much to keep this book it was a shame I had to give it back but the cost is prohibiting...

Great Book with the usual set of characters but they where all in Egypt this time and it gets better, I was right in assuming that when the title says Children that Nefret was having Twins....Well not to give to much away but I think that anyone who loves Egypt Past or Present should read Elizabeth Peters. The only thing is I only have about 4 books left in this series what then do I read.......

 Artemis Fowl Eternity Code

 Eoin Colfer

This was an engrossing read, it was a very good book and it left the reader wondering why things happened and what was going to happen in the future.

I look forward to reading more by this Author.

Lion in the Valley

Again only a soso book by this author! But, at this time I like that books are a series and that the stories are evolving.

The Deeds of the Disturber

Not an exceptional book in the Peabody stories. While I still enjoy the series I really am finding I enjoy the new books versus the older books in the series. Not the best writing either by this author.

Six Pence House

Paul Collens

Excellent book on well books. This was a great read and didn't take long. I did enjoy Hay on the Wye which you'll find on the side if you want to go there like me. Can you imagine living in a city of Books....Yes Please....I'd be afraid of moving ever with the book collection of mine and my husbands and then when you combine my sons....oh my gosh...Wow.

Artemis Fowl (Book One)

Eon Coffer

Well this book had to be read as we didn't finish it the first time through. I'm still wondering why. This book is where it all started. I found that while this book is marketed as a Young Adult book it was really good for an adult too. The story line was very complicated just in the world of a 12 year old and frankly it was all to believable. I liked this book and I look forward to hopefully more in the series.

Pressure Points

Larry Brooks

I only thought this book to be average - really. I did like some of the story. And while the authors writing was good I found flaws in what was going on. It just didn't hold much umph for me. I really dragged reading this book. Maybe it was brooken up into too many little chapters and it just didn't seem to move fast enough. While I love a great mystery this one just felt strange too me. Maybe it was just too much for me. I might try Serpents Dance, I have the book, well see though....

The Book Club

Mary Alice Monroe

While most books get a better review from me, I choose my book reading wth much care, this book slipped through as one of those books that I really wanted to read because of the title and it looked interesting. Well titles and cover art can be soo misleading...I almost through this book across the room several times. I hated reading it and wanted to send it back to whence it came. My wall would have been way to go for it. Thank goodness I don't have a garbage compacter. I still out of generosity give a 2 star due to the writing. It must have taken some imagination to come up with such a strangled life stories of the characters in this book. If you want true to life (and I mean true to life) stories of deceit always on the mans side and you want depression up to the end of the book then this book is a definite for you....lucky you.

Night Work

Laurie King

This was a somewhat fast pased books compared to some of Kings work. King is a great story teller and frankly a well writen book. Kate and all the framiliar characters are back and while some of the ending seemed confusing it still ended up nicely. But the reader is left with questions that are not all answered just implied. I only gave this book a 3 1/2 star due to the questions that where left. I want answers now I don't want to wait for 3 or so years for the next story. But the writing merits at least a 4 or so.

Have you visited you local Library?

Current Reads

Six Pence House: Lost in a Town of books. This book was on the new shelf at the library and looked interesting. I am reading at night before I go to bed. But to be honest I sometimes get lost reading this book and don't make it to bed until very late.

http://www.hay-on-wye.co.uk/

This is the place in the above mentioned book that the story about books is set. It is based on a true story. I would love to go to Hay-On-Wye.

A passion for Books is another literary type book.

Eventually I'll also read over the next couple of Months

Anna Karenina by Tolystoy.
