Indiana Jones and the Genesis Deluge

Rob MacGregor

This book was read outloud to give my sons reading a boost to the regular reading for the year. He said the book was ok and that he was not interested in reading any for the series past this book.

While he may have not enjoyed the book it was an ok read for me. It was fast past and at times funny and adventurous. I enjoyed this book and maybe in the future I'll read more from the series.

The Meanest Doll in the World

Ann M. Martin and Laura Godwin

Nice book all around. I found the pictures wonderful and the writing fun. This is a childrens book and I found that a child specifically a little girl would definitely love the book. It was overall about Bullies and how to overcome them. If I had the money I would have bought the book. I've read both in the series and enjoyed them.

Finally....

Star by Star Star Wars the New Jedi Order book 9 in the series

Troy Denning

I wanted to finally make an effort and get through this book. I've only got about 10 books to read from here...to complete the series. I was upset at the prospect of losing a great character. To me it seemed almost Author suicidal to even consider offing the paticular character I liked soo much. The ending was bad too ...Jania Solo is not a Jedi to turn to the Dark Side. I think this book was written poorly and there could have been some better writing choices. I'm not stopping reading these books for now. I'm hoping that some author out there makes sense of  The Star Wars that I enjoy soo much.

Dark Journey The New Jedi Order Star Wars book 10 in the series

Elaine Cunningham

Nothing happend in this book, it left the reader wandering if anything really happened. In fact this book was by far a talk and not do book. It was however a very quick read and while it was not a horrible book is was not spectacular either. One thing the reader is left with is that the characters never leave the Hapes Cluster.

Enemy Lines 1

Rebel Dream The New Jedi Order Star Wars book 11 in the series

Aaron Allston

Again no real action in this book. Little movement in regaining Crosucant. Everything that happens must obviously happen in the next book not in this book.

Only 8 more books in the series......

The House of Seven Gables

Nathaniel Hawthorne

While I've never read this I thought since it is on the College bound reading list I would incorporate it into outloud reading and my reading. I have to say that what was once popular is now really just old. The language that Hawthorne uses is really hard sometimes to understand and frankly really odd. Old English can be a real downer. I didn't enjoy this book and I would not read it again. I'm glad it is done with and that once I've read it I don't have to again.

The Eyre Affair

Jasper Fforde

This book was FABULOUS. I don't know maybe I needed a really good read after all the mediocre reading I did over the last month but I got to tell you this book was wonderfull. I went out and got the next book in the series and would love an ARC of the Well of Lost Plots the third book in the series. The writing in the begining of the book was confusing but as the first couple of chapters got under way I found I understood what was being written and enjoyed the book more soo. I love the main character Thursday Next she and I could get along so well. She has an interesting life. I will read more from this author.

December 03

Busy Month....

Lost in a Good Book

Jasper Fforde

the first book in the series is The Eyre Affair and is reviewed above. I have to say that I enjoyed this book just as much as Eyre Affair and now I await the next in the series. It amazes me that the third book is already out in the UK. How come we have to wait for it here  in the states? I liked this book but it did have some upsetting things going on and if one wanted to know what was going on fully in this book then they would really need to pick up the first. I didn't like that Thursday's love got "erradicated" and that her baby has to be born in a book (although truth be told I think it would be neat to be born in a book - I think I would like to be born in the Harry Potter book world. It would rock...) . Well I don't want to give away too much but it would be really hard to decide what book I'd want to be in for my life....Great series and I still like the writing style of the author and the characters etc. I really can't go on enough about this series ...EXCELLENT!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkhaban

J.K. Rowling

Ok while this is a reread it still is a very good book. We listened to this on CD and Jim Dale rocks as the reader with the voices and all on the CD. I could listen to Dale read other books I just have to figure out what other books he has read for.

Hard Eight

Janet Evanovich

Choosing to read a series is so much fun however when the series ends and or you get up to the point that the author has no more in the series yet written can become a real bummer. I love these books and hence it only took a day and a half to read this book. I could read about Stephanie Plum for ages. I like her family and her life in general. While Stephanies life can be described as a train wreck honestly can any of us say any differently about our own?  Not only did Steph finally get some but she really got some in this book. Lets just say look at pages 265 on and 324 oh my gosh......Hot and steamy not my normal read but I just love a woman who can solve a mystery and have fun all at the same time....Way to go Steph.

Visions of Sugar Plum

Janet Evanovich

Excellent reading as well and yes in the same series as the Stephanie Plum books. I think this is a novella though. I read this in about 2 and a half hours. The book has only 150 pages so it is an easy read. Steph needs a little help at Christmas and while it is supernatural in many ways the book is soo believable because it is all about Stephanies life. I enjoy these books an will be saddened when I get To the Nines from the Library because it is a long wait till the next book in June of 04.
