Any Advanced Placement course is a writing intensive course, and APUS History is no exception. I am pleased to post some of my student's work in this gallery. Students in my class are asked to compose a variety of free response essays and document based essays. In addition, there are some special projects through the year. Please take a look at my student's impressive work. Any comments can be directed to mruland@comcast.net

Essays

Sectional Compromises of the Early 19th Century - Students were asked to assess the statement that the sectional compromises of the first half of the 19th century were not in fact compromises but rather a ‘sectional sellout' in which the North gave in to the insistent demands of the slaveholding South.

Projects

Muckraker Article - Students were asked to create an article for a Muckraker style magazine. The topic of the article could be anything from the period 1877-1914. To keep with the idea of writing for a muckraker magazine, students had to use magazine formatting.
