Japanese American Internment
US internment camps for the Japanese were set up in a response to World War 2. The government felt that Japanese immigrants/citizens were not able to be trusted, since their home country (Japan) was at war with the country they were living in (the United States). To solve this "problem", President F. D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066. This web site provides a simple outline of Japanese internment starting in 1942.
