Created by: Chris, Jamie and Danny Martin Luther King, Jr. is a significant figure in American's history, especially concerning his contributions for civil rights and African Americans. When he was first born, his name was actually Michael Luther King, Jr., but it was later changed to Martin. He played a major role in the African American civil rights movement. He was a part of National Association for the Advancement of Colored people (NAACP) and was the leader of the Bus Boycott which lasted 382 days. He spoke more then 2500 times for the cause of African American Civil rights. His most famous speech was " I Have A Dream" in Washington D.C. in front of 250,000 people. On April 4th, 1968 he was assassinated on his motel balcony. Martin Luther King Jr. was not the only major fighter in the civil rights movement. One such person was Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr. as well as many other activists made a huge impact on the face of the United States and will always be remembered for their courage, determination, and perseverance.

This web site is very useful because it describes Martin Luther King's leadership role in the Civil Rights Movement in the 60s. This web site describes all the things that he did in order to win the Nobel Peace prize. Little Rock Central High School and Its Desegregation This web site is good because it contains information on Little Rock Central High School and its struggle to desegregation of African Americans and Whites in 1957. It provides a concise, accurate summary of what happened when Little Rock Central High School had its first nine black students. The web site even has information about the military force that was involved during the incident, which shows how the impact and importance of the event. Brown v. Board of Education and Racial Segregation in Schools This web site was beneficial because it provides background information about one of the most well-known cases dealing with civil rights: Brown v. Board of Education. It contains detailed descriptions of all of the specifics of the case, such as the question, ruling, and more. In addition, it has some of the results of the ruling and some changes that occurred in society as a result of the case. Little Rock Central High School This is a good web site because it is about Little Rock High School in Alabama, and it shows how the governor tried to stop desegregation in public schools. It contains good information about this topic. Jackie Robinson Breaks Color Barrier This web site is about Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson was the first African American player to play in Major League Baseball. This was a big step in the Civil Rights Movement. This web site contains a conversation between Jackie Robinson and Branch Ricky as well as important and detailed information. This web site is about Rosa Parks ad what she did to contribute to the Civil Rights Movement. She started the Bus Boycott that lasted 382 days. This Boycott was one of the most important acts in the Civil rights movement. This is a great timeline consisting of the most important acts in the Civil Rights Movement. It makes the Civil Rights Movement easier to comprehend.
