As you are discovering, there is a lot to do in WHAP. We are studying 10 thousand years of history; turning much of your previous knowledge around by looking at events you previously studied from a different perspective, and learning new skills especially writing skills. To do this, you will be exposed to a lot of information. To try to grapple with all of that, you will be creating a lot of chars, graphs, maps, timelines, and study term cards. While it is important that you have all this information, what is most important is that you use it. The search isn’t as important as the analysis.

Therefore, it is strongly encouraged that you form a study group. Study groups can be your best friend, but only when used according to the guidelines.

 1.         Study groups may be up to 7 people. Concentrate on finding people that will work well together and not necessarily those who are best friends.

2.         Study groups may include people from different classes. In fact, it might be better to have people from different classes since different things may be said in each.

3.         Study Groups MUST be registered.

4.         If a member of the group is not participating, you may remove that person from the study group.

5.         Assignments that may be done as a study group should be organized in such a way that each person has all the material BEFORE the assignment is due. While it is not necessary for each person to find all of the information, it is important that each person has all the information, learns all the information, analyzes all the information, or whatever is necessary to prepare for the next step.

6.         When the members of a study group decide to do an assignment as a study group, they may end up with identical results or each member may do a slightly different version. When they are identical, the following additional guidelines apply.

            a.         The study group should turn in 1 copy – it should be an extra copy.

            b.         There must be a cover page that lists the name of each person in the group.

            c.         Each person must show me that they have their own completed copy of the assignment.

            d.         Only those members that can show me their own completed copy of the assignment will receive a grade for the assignment.

            e.         Each member of the group will complete a Group Evaluation form.
