There are 4 assignments that must be completed for each of the 5 units: Change Analysis Charts, Map, Study Terms, and the Time Line. These may be done with a study group. They will be checked approximately 1 week before the unit test to ensure that all group members have all parts of the assignments. They will be collected the day of the unit test for a grade. You must submit a complete Group Evaluation form with these assignments.
Change Analysis Charts. Create 1 chart for each of the 7 RECIPES themes. Since this is a global course, you must incorporate at least 3 different geographic regions on each chart. You do not have to use the same regions for all the charts in a particular region. You must also ensure that you incorporate information reflecting different components of the theme. For example, Environmental should show migrations and epidemics as well as geographic issues like pollution and canals.
Map. This is a global course dealing with global processes. It is crucial to have an understanding of what those processes are on a global level. Create an annotated map using either a blank outline map of the world or a mental map creation with circles/ovals representing the main geographic regions. Your map should indicate what is happening in each of the major regions: who are the primary groups and what are they doing. You can use RECIPES to briefly analyze what they are doing.
Study Terms. Each unit has a list of study terms, and the instructions are listed there. It is important to recognize that this is a history class, and therefore the words must be used in terms of history and not just the first definition in the dictionary.
Time Line. Each unit also has a list of events to us to create an annotated time, line and the instructions are listed there. These assignments have been designed to help you organize the vast amount of information that you will have. These will also be a wonderful resource for studying for the AP exam, so please pay attention to legibility and neatness.
