The Reed S. Snyder Memorial Teacher Excellence Award is an award presented
annually to a Montgomery County, Maryland, teacher who has made an exceptional contribution
to the teaching profession exemplified by competency in teaching; dedication to education; commitment
to and a love of children; professionalism; the skill to effectively interact with students, parents,
and fellow staff members; and the ability to inspire and motivate students. The award recognizes
effective teaching style, creative teaching methods, enjoyment of the work,
dedication going above and beyond, and a positive effect on students.
Any teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland, is eligible for the
Reed S. Snyder
Memorial Teacher Excellence Award. Any person may nominate a teacher.
The nomination procedure includes a nomination form and an essay no longer than
three double-spaced pages describing why you think the teacher deserves
this award. Please refer to the Nomination Form section for detailed instructions.
One teacher is selected per school year. The winning teacher receives a plaque and
$250.00. The school the winning teacher is from receives the
master award plaque to display for that year. The following year the master
plaque moves on to the next recipient's school.
