Reed Snyder

Reed S. Snyder served Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland for
25 years from 1960 to 1985. During his tenure he worked as a teacher, an assistant principal, and as a principal. Admired and respected, he was a man who led by example and held strong beliefs in hard work, fairness, and patriotism.
Mr. Snyder strived for quality education and high standards. He fully realized the essential role teachers play in that effort. Always supportive of his staff, he considered them family. An advocate of parental involvement and support for children and teachers, Mr. Snyder fostered this commitment in the school community.
Mr. Snyder died of lymphatic cancer in October 1999. A teacher excellence
award was established in his name in 2000. The Reed S. Snyder Memorial Teacher Excellence Award is given annually to a Montgomery County Maryland public school teacher in recognition of and in appreciation for exceptional contributions to the teaching profession.

It is the hope of Reed Snyder's family, friends, and colleagues that the memory of Reed Snyder and his commitment to excellence will live on through this award.
