In Eye of the Wolf. the eleventh book in this series, Father John O'Malley receives a voice mail that threatens revenge against old enemies. Soon it appears the Arapaho and Shoshone tribes will be at war again, after 100 years of peacefully sharing the same reservation. Vicki Holden is the lawyer representing the young Arapaho man who is the prime suspect of killing 4 Shoshone men. The two find themselves thrust together once again as the two work to solve the murders and avoid a inter-tribal war.

The couple's attraction for each other seems to be cooling. Father John is coming to terms with his feelings and Vicki is involved with her law firm partner.

Father O'Malley has a new assistant who looks like he might be around for more than one book.
