Mt. Audubon is located in the Brainard Lake Recreation Area of Colorado's Indian Peaks. Located along the Continental Divide, Mt. Audubon offers a relatively easy hike and great views of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Indian Peaks. With the high country receiving snow lately, Amy and I decided to stay close to Boulder and thought Mt. Audubon would be a good trip to the high country. We left Boulder and were delayed in Boulder Canyon by a climbing accident near Boulder Creek Falls, which unfortunately was fatal for one climber. After about a 30 minute delay in the canyon, we made it to the Brainard Lake Recreation Area around 2 p.m. It was a little late in the day to begin a hike, but we move fairly quickly and there isn't much thunderstorm danger this late in the year.
