Naval Career
I've been I joined the U.S. Navy August 1988. Reported onboard the
aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) on it's maiden six
month Mediterranean Cruise in January 1989 with the Fighter Squadron
EIGHTY FOUR (VF-84) 'Jolly Rogers', a F-14 squadron based out of Naval
Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA. In January 1991, put on third
class petty officer while onboard the USS Theodore
Roosevelt (CVN-71)
with VF-84 for another six month Mediterranean Cruise. During the
cruise, the battle group went to the Persian Gulf in support of
Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.
July 1992 put on second class petty officer (AK2) and in August 1992 left VF-84 and reported at the Naval Air Station Oceana Aviation Supply Department (NASO ASD) based at Virginia Beach, VA. in September of the same year. During the two year tour with ASD, took college courses in Math. I was also involved with ASD's softball and bowling teams.
September 1994, left Naval Air Station Oceana and reported to Naval
Air Station Brunswick, Maine in October of the same year. After checking
in, was flown to Puerto Rico to join Patrol Squadron ELEVEN, a P-3C
squadron based out
of NAS Brunswick, ME. and were currently finishing a
six month deployment. Mid December of 1994, the squadron reported back
to NAS Brunswick, ME. Was the Operating Target Manager (OPTAR) of Patrol
Squadron ELEVEN. While with VP-11 I was in charge of the funds
specified for office supplies and fuel. The job consisted of the
ordering of flight clothing for officers and aircrew of the P-3C
aircraft, printing request, open purchases, and ordering of regular
national stock numbered items for Patrol Squadron ELEVEN personnel.
January of 1996, Patrol Squadron ELEVEN embarked on yet another
deployment to Sigonella, Sicily and during which the squadron got the
news that they were to be
decommissioned in the same year.
In August of 1996, reported to Patrol Squadron TEN.
While with the
'Red Lancers', deployed to Iceland from August 1997 to February 1998.
During the middle of November of the same year, I moved to Key West,
Florida, where I worked at ASD.
October of 2001 I left the Navy and
moved to Texas. Something I wished I never did...
