About the Players

The Lawncrest Musical Players are a community theater troupe, that calls the Lawncrest Recreation Center, 6000 Rising Sun Avenue, Philadelphia, PA,  their home.  The core of this troupe is a group of young actors from 3rd to 8th grade, led, until his passing in 2004, by director, Tom Korytowski.  A true theatrical learning experience, the children in this group not only develop their talents on the stage, but also master other aspects of theater, such as set design, costuming, sound, lighting and promotion.

Run under the auspices of the Lawncrest Recreation Center and the Philadelphia Department of Recreation,  their main production is held in the Spring.

All are welcome and in the various productions, every child is encouraged to take on a speaking part.

An all-ages group presents a musical production annually, as well.

On occasion, the group may take their show "on the road", performing at other venues in the area.  During these sojourns, the Musical Players call themselves the Traveling Musical Players, but their home base remains the Lawncrest Recreation Center.

Newcomers are always welcome.
