Monday MTB ride (Seasonal)

About the Ride:

(This Ride is no Longer  :-( )

This ride meets at Pineridge, you know the park at the west end of Horsetooth road. It's sponcered by the Northern Grass Roots MTB team which is part of the FCCC.  The ride is a medium paced ride which is pretty good for all but real(tm) beginners.  It's lead by one of the team members with a different member designated to lead this ride each week.

I have done this ride a few years ago and here is my impression.  The Team guys are really nice and they will encorage anyone to ride with them.  Once a guy just showed up with cutoffs, no helmit, you get the idea, but the guys waited for him just the same and let him know that he was welcome, but next time needed to wear a helmet.

Distance:

Was about 10+ miles or 1/2 hours of riding.

Pace:

I would say that the pace was lively.  Comming from doing quite a bit of MTBing in my day I would say that one needs to be fairly comfortable on a MTB since the pace/terrain isn't for the true beginner.

Misc:

Now the ride starts at pineridge and then climbs the hill up to the resovoir behind the stadium.  Some of the terrain is pretty technical and not for the faint of heart.   Once the climb is made the group may cross Centinnial Ave. and do some single track next to the resevoir.  I must admit that portions of the trail are un-nerving since one mistake can send you over the edge, but once you get used to it, it's not so bad.
