Wednesday Night Worlds (Seasonal)
About the Ride:
This ride is pretty much for "Mutants". Ok If you are still reading this then
this is what I know. The ride meets at 5:00 from the Budweiser Plant off of Route
25. I don't know much more than that but I do know a bunch of guys who do this one and I
will fill in more details when I get them.
The rides are always brutal and can be down right punishing depending who shows up. Some
of the areas strongest racers from Cat IV to Cat I and even some pro show up on occasion!
Plan on being warmed up before you get there! Pace Well it's Race Pace!!! You have been
warned. Yes this is adrop ride!
Distance:
Between ~30 miles
Misc:
It is listed in Bicycling Magazine as the fastest group ride in the country. It
is a pro-ride, no doubt about it. Only the best in the area (who are some of the best in
the country) finish the 60-80 mile loop with the leaders.
You are wise to point out that these rides are fierce. If you are not extremely
comfortable in a peloton 4-5 wide at times, and inches apart going 30+, you will not enjoy
this, and they won't enjoy having you. This is not a ride to show up on and learn how to
ride fast. They are very coordial and friendly guys, until you get rolling, then it's all
business..."and bid-ness is goood." (Major Payne reference, where he says
"killin' is my bidness, and bidness is good". If you haven't seen it, you
should).
The first Wednesday ride of the season starts when the time changes in the spring.
(Thanks to Big Ben for this info)
Anyone got some more info on this, let me know and I will post it and give you props!
