Welcome to the page dedicated to my home state of Minnesota - The Land of 10,000 Lakes. Now that's a lot of ice fishin'! Good deal, yah? Most were created by glaciers that covered the state about 10,000 years ago. Others were created by potholes. No lie. We are most famous for our winters, but Minnesota does have 4 seasons: snow shoveling, basement flooding, road construction and leaf raking. If you plan to visit our fair state, make sure you pack for the weather. It won't do you any good to get yourself caught in a blizzard and have all your parts and pieces start falling off. When you thaw out, you're gonna be in a world of hurt, I tell ya what. We get our share of sweltering summers, too, you bet. Triple digit temps happen more than you'd think. Luckily we got all these lakes just a sittin' there waitin' for your bellyflops and cannonballs. Now don't let our weather scare you away. Sure, our winter wind chills hit a nippy -60°F below zero and the snow is hip-deep, but hey, this keeps all the weirdos in California. Besides the fun weather, Minnesota is know for a lot of other stuff, too. We're home to Paul Bunyan, the Mall of America, Mystery Science Theater 3000, the International Wolf Center, Lutefisk, astronaut George "Pinky" Nelson, old-growth forests, a very scary ex-Governor, the Mayo Clinic, Rocky & Bullwinkle, the headwaters of the Mississippi River, Garrison Keillor, the Twins, Vikings & Timberwolves, Spam (the meat product, not the annoying e-mails) and oh so much more. Not too bad. Many cities, counties and townships in Minnesota have websites for visitors and residents. Find your city here. |
