"Is 'Infineon and Beyond' bigger than googleplex?"

23 Feb 2007
Jorin is at his first sleepover party. He didn't miss us at all. He says he was awake until 3am, and he's so run down the next day that maybe he was.

15 Feb 2007
The great Valentine's day blizzard has left us with sheets of ice covering all the hills. Jorin goes so fast sledding that he hits a tree and cuts his lip.

"A fish is an easy pet to keep in the house especially not a polar bear. You'd have to kill a deer to feed a polar bear, it's favorite food is walrus, but those are hard to find."

20 Jan 2007
We got a little snow and zoom Jorin is out the door to try out his new snowboard. He quickly gives up on standing on it, and instead rides it like a skinny sled. Whatever works.

Jorin is surveying the presents and notes "Dad, we have that same gift bag up in our guest room!" Huh, what are the odds that Santa would have the same gift bag?

16 Nov 2006
Jorin's PTA held a fundraiser at Chevy's. Jorin floated around to visit all his friends, then parked and ate with someone else. Camber was very sad the he couldn't eat with someone else too.

22 Oct 2006
Jorin dances the night away at the church talent show. We rounded up the young kids to dance & lip synch YMCA. They managed the dance steps pretty well and we didn't have any serious bumps so we'll call it success.

4 Oct 2006
First tooth gone! And gone it was - it didn't make the trip home from school. Ironically, the soccer-ball-to-the-eye call from the school nurse came after the tooth fell out.

20 Sep 2006
Jorin is stretching his 1st grade wings - he rode the bus home today, unannounced. He knew I was home to take Camber to a checkup, so he told his teacher it was ok. I didn't find out until afternoon daycare called and asked where he was.

2 Sep 2006
Jorin went bowling today at a birthday party. He bowled without the gutter bumpers for the first time, and managed a couple of spares and even a strike. Lots of jumping and running around after that one.

16 Aug 2006
Jorin played outside until bedtime.
D: "Jorin, we asked you to come inside for dinner, but you chose to play instead. Now it's too late. Tell you what, I'll give you a plum in exchange for your TV time tomorrow."
J: "I'll trade grounding for dinner."

2 Aug 2006
Jorin goes downtown to the UN's World Food Program headquarters to accept an award for an art contest he won. He's a little nervous as they gather everyone for the ceremony.
J: "Will I have to speak in that microphone?"
UN guy: "Not if you don't want to."
J: "I don't want to."

26 July 2006
Jorin tries out a boogie board at Ocean City. After a few trial runs with dad's help, he's zooming around on his own.

6 July 2006
Jorin brought home 1st and 2nd place swimming ribbons today, and a "personal best" ribbon. He's very excited. "I didn't even get DQ'ed in breaststroke!" You gotta have goals.

1 July 2006
Jorin's new glasses came with snap-on sunglasses. He immediately snaps them on and stands in a cool dude pose.

12 Jun 2006
J: "Why did the chicken cross the road?"
D: "To get to the other side."
J: "No, to get a haircut! Ha ha ha hee hee ha ha."
D: "I don't get it."
J: "Oh, I meant to say it was a rooster! Ha ha ha hee hee."

10 Jun 2006
Jorin's first swim meet on the "big kids" team. He was very nervous, but tied for 1st place in his age group (in a field of two :) so all is well.

J: "Maybe Abby will be there."
C: "Abby who? Abby Stisher?"
J: "No, not Stisher. It's Gail. Abby Gail."

21 May 2006
Jorin carried Luke to the changing pad and changed his diaper. He did a pretty good job, too. Huh.

15 May 2006
Famous last words - Jorin has begun carrying Luke around. Luke was crying so Jorin picked him up and carried him to the couch to soothe him.

22 Apr 2006
Jorin likes being a biggest brother. He asks to hold Luke, and feed him. When Luke is a little bigger, Jorin will be carrying him around :)

16 Apr 2006
Jorin rode his bike today without training wheels. He was nervous, but after one little push he was off. Now he's whizzing around the neighborhood.

2 Apr 2006
Now that spring is here, Jorin is a trampoline fiend. He is getting more adventurous, trying a forward flip and getting all the way around to his bottom. Cartwheels are also starting. Countdown to the next broken bone...

26 Mar 2006
We were trying to brighten Camber's mood after he bumped his head. I said he had a goose on his head, and honked. Jorin said "No he doesn't!" So I winked at Jorin, and his face brightened and he said "Oh, yeah, you do!" and he honked too. Then he looked at me and said "I am too old for tricking. You can't fool me any more." He narrowed his eyes and lowered his voice. "Your tricks are useful." Complete with perfect emphasis on useful like it was useless. So close, and yet so far :)

18 Mar 2006
Jorin's first ride on the metro. He's reading the restriction signs near the door. "Daddy, that sign means 'no animals'. I know why no animals, because if you have a goat it might walk around and eat people's clothes."

Jorin cut his finger this morning. He was trying to stuff a marker into the end of a seagull feather, so he could write with a quill (his class has been studying Presidents this month).

"Daddy, can we watch the football game on Saturday? The Seattle Seahawks are going to the Super Goal."

21 Jan 2006
No more monkeys, jumping on the bed! Jorin did a less than graceful dismount when told to stop jumping on the bed, tripped, and clonked his head on the edge of a dresser. Didn't quite break the skin, but enough blood and swelling that it was worth a trip to the pediatrician. No stitches.

13 Jan 2006
Swim party this year. Jorin swims for two hours and is still wired afterward, during pizza and cake.

6 Jan 2006
"Dr. Suess is Giesel. He's dead. If you're dead, and you write a lot of stories, you get on a stamp."
