The cover art for this work follows the theme of the
book. It is a painting my sister did more than 2 decades ago.
Who's the picture in the painting? This is my grandmother in the
early 20s. At that time, she lived in Mathis, Texas, in
a tiny house on the edge of town. Grandma lived her life
giving, loving and being a servant. She's forever an example to me.
She was never tired of lending a hand, helping others and spending
time with us. She loved roses and surrounded the house
with them. I inherited that love and her green thumb. You'll
read poems about that love. Grandma lived life in a minor key,
but it was a song she loved to sing and everyone loved to hear.
She was talented in so many ways - just like my sister.
Patti Bonham showed an incredible ability with art at a very young age. I remember her painting, drawing and sketching when I had just started first grade. She continually astounded her teachers with her talent all her life. She attended the University Of Texas Fine Arts Department and received a BA in Graphic Arts. She still astounds me with her ability! I am so blessed to have a sister with enormous talent and I thank her for the gift of this picture for the book! - Dave |
