World's Smallest Fireboat

Higden Bay was built in April of 2004, at Decatur, IL. Construction is fiberglass over marine plywood  utilizing the "stitch and glue" method, from modified plans by Glen-L Marine Engineering.
The boat is 9 feet 0 inches in length with a 4foot 8 inch beam. Depth amidships is 20 inches. Displacement at a 4inch waterline is 520 pounds.
The boat is powered by a 5 hp Briggs & Stratton outboard motor. The front-mounted deck monitor elevates, rotates and is capable of delivering 12 gpm at 60 psi, with a 50 foot stream.  The " Higden Bay" is equipped with marine radios as well as radio communication to the crew ashore.  Emergency lights and siren, air horns, searchlight, hailer, compass, bell, first-aid kit and navigation lights, complete the equipment
