Frequently Asked Questions
How many people can be accommodated? A maximum of 14 people can be accommodated on the property, including visitors. This is due to septic limitations as well general wear and tear. We have a new septic system located at beach level which we cannot overload. The Whidbey Beachfront House comes equipped with 2 king size beds in separate bedrooms, 1 queen bed, 2 twin bunk beds, 2 additional twin beds, and a daybed. An airbed in the atrium can be used as addition sleeping area if additional sleeping room (ie 6 couples) is needed. The Eagles Nest has a double bed. The Beach Cabin contains a queen bed and a sectional in the living room that can sleep one or two kids.
Do you allow pets? I'm afraid that we are not able to accommodate pets.
Do you have any bedroom floor plans available, and/or a layout of the property? For Bedroom layout, please see complete bedroom descriptions at bottom of this page.

Can we have our wedding here? Sorry, we cannot accommodate weddings.
Are there any other booking restrictions? Our family enjoys sharing our vacation home with our guests who appreciate its amazingly peaceful setting and treat the house and property like their own. However, we no longer accept bookings from unrelated groups of young people, for bachelor party weekends, or for parties where alcohol, drugs, or loud music are the major draw. 14 people is the maximum number of guests we can accommodate, including visitors.
The concierge at the Fairmount Hotel recommended you. Should we expect 5 star accommodations? We did run into this situation once, pre-remodel. With our Fall 2008 remodel, we can accommodate guests desiring the highest luxury and comfort in our beautiful new master bedroom. All bathrooms have recently been remodeled to the highest standard, and the other bedrooms are fabulous as well. However, vacation homes are not hotels. Bed linens and towels are Egyptian cotton, our mattresses are firm, and our pillows are new. We do have many appreciative repeat guests who book a special week or weekend year after year and we hope that you'll be among them!
Can we tour the property prior to booking? As our main residence is in Seattle, we are not set up for tours and the property is often booked on weekends. We have provided this website to answer any questions you may have, as well as provide a "virtual tour" with plenty of pictures. For longer stays of one month or more, we can sometimes arrange for an on-site visit if requested.
Is there a grocery store nearby? Yes, there is a wonderful grocery store (perhaps the best on the island) less than 10 minutes away- Freeland Payless Foods.
The kitchen stove in the photo is a beautiful antique. Is there also a modern stove? Yes, the main kitchen has a nice electric stove/oven. The antique one works, but we use it mainly to burn paper. We prefer the electric stove for cooking! A kitchen remodel is planned for Fall/Winter 2009.
What about internet access? We now have high-speed DSL! Currently the modem is located at the kitchen bar area.
Please tell me about your pool. Our private 20' x 40' deep water outdoor pool was built in 1960. It is fully fenced, locked, and heated by solar panels which were installed on the cabin roof in 2000. Water levels range from 3' to 8', and an adult must be supervising at all times. It is a fabulous place to relax in the summertime and we have recently upgraded the plumbing.
