             Mr. Putter and Tabby

        Stir the Soup

                By Cynthia Rylant

Introduction

Mr. Putter and Tabby is a series by the author Cynthia Rylant.

In this humorous story, Mr. Putter and his pet cat, Tabby, attempt to make soup and end up completely exhausted.  Read this delightful story to see how Mrs. Teaberry, their friendly neighbor,  and Zeke, her dog, save the day.

Let's Find Out

Cynthia Rylant has written many books for children.  These include three series for beginning readers: Mr. Putter and Tabby, Poppleton, and Henry and Mudge and the story of her young life,  When I Was Young on the Mountain.

She has written a letter to children to tell them more about herself.  You can read the letter by clicking on this picture of Tabby.

Activities

The American Veterinary Medical Association has a wonderful website for children. You will find out how to choose your pet and how to care for your pet.  You will also find fun activities such as making an animal mask or puppet and crossword puzzles.  Click on Tabby to go there.

If you would like to make your dog some dog bones click on Tabby or Zeke for the recipe.  REMEMBER you should always have a grown up with you if you are going to use the oven or the stove.
