Interior of the Globe Theater in London

Directories

KidsClick!   http://www.kidsclick.org

Seven thousand sites which have already been evaluated by librarians as useful and accurate are searched for the answer to your question.

Multnomah County Library Homework Center  http://www.multcolib.org/homework/

These sites have been selected for students in grades K-12.  They have all been checked for accuracy.

700+ Great Web Sites  http://www.ala.org/parentspage/greatsites/

This is a collection of sites for students in grades K-8 which have been reviewed by the American Library Association.

Dewey Browse   http://www.deweybrowse.org/

This site is arranged in the same order as the library.  Students click on the sections that they wish to find information and the range of information continues to narrow as the computer searches for the link between the question and the resources available.

Search Engines

Google   http://www.google.com

This site is an advanced search engine.  It offers you the opportunity to do boolean searches using the terms AND and OR.  It can also look for pictures.  ( A filter is available if your parents wish to use it.)

Ask Jeeves for Kids  http:ajkids.com

This search engine lets you ask a question in a regular sentence.  It's drawback is that it may not be able to answer the question if you haven't phrased it the way the creators of the site expected you to frame it.  You may have to reword your question.  It does not search the whole internet.  It is however, geared to children.

Yahooligans   http://www.yahooligans.com

This site has a large selection of answers to your questions.  The page is very busy with extra information and may be difficult for young children to navigate.
