Back Lighting Meter
Here is an easy modification to do
so you can increase the meter backlighting
and see the meter easier on your
75S1 / 75S2 / 75S3 A,B,or C
32S1 / 32S2 / 32S3
KWM2 or KWM2A.

This is a very easy mod to do and increase your meter backlighting. I was quite surprised to see the difference
in the amount of additional light that the #47 bulb produced without increasing the bulb voltage.
So first I had to remove the meter from my 75S3 receiver.
I had loosen and remove 4 nuts and lockwashers first in order to get the meter housing out of the radio cabinet.
And also there was of course the 2 nuts on the back of the meter that connected the wiring the make the meter operate and indicate that have to removed as well.
Once the meter was out of the cabinet I had 3 screws to remove out of the meter housing so I remove the meter movement.
Be VERY CAREFUL to PULL straight out
the meter movement so not to bang or bump the movement as it is very delicate!
Notice in the picture above the meter glass retainer and the gap between it and the white collar. It is this white collar, surface and the meter glass retainer that you are going to coat with the Liquid Paper. Now it you desire you can use a white model paint as well to do this operation.
JUST be careful not to get the Liquid Paper or paint on the glass as it will show through on the front of the meter.
What this does is coat the part of the inside surface with white Liquid Paper so the black gap between the meter glass retainer and the white metal collar inside the housing to allow the light to wrap around to the front of the meter so it casts the light better on the front of the meter face and it really works.
Now coat the meter housing inside 360 degrees around the inside. This coating will conduct the lamp light on all surfaces so it will encompass the the entire front of the meter face with light a full 360 degrees.
Now let it dry.
Once dry reassemble the meter and reinsert the meter movement and the 3 screws first and replace it back in the transmitter or receiver.
Connect and install in reverse order the way you removed it.
Once all the nuts and wiring are tight reinsert the lanp holder with the bulb in the back of the meter housing.
Now reconnect all the cables between the transmitter and receiver and power it up. Wow what a difference it makes, you can turn off the light and see the meter with no difficulties.
