Shanti and Bernard first met in 1979, the year that they both moved to Seattle, he from Detroit and she from New Orleans. Well-versed in a variety of musical styles, Barnard has performed with the likes of pianist and comedian, Steve Allen, been an integral part of the rhythm section of popular dance band, Caravan, and founded the Seattle Jazz Guitar Society.
