MY YOUNGEST FAN
< style="font-weight: bold;">I
just LOVE this series! I stumbled upon them when I found
Killer
Knots on a display at my local library. It was so great that
I went back and read all the other books, in order. I hope you
have something else on the horizon for Marla and Dalton!

Please, don't stop the Marla
Shore series. They must have children and grandchildren. I
absolutely LOVE this series. Stephanie
I'm so glad to have discovered you.
You tell an excellent story
without steamy sex scenes. Marsha
I just
LOVE your mysteries and I can't wait
for the next one! Thank you for writing such great books
and for
creating such memorable characters. Karen
Looking forward
to the next Marla
Shore book. Maybe you will consider it not being the last.
From a
hopeful enjoyer of the series. Debbie
I have just finished 'Killer Knots', the second
Marla Shore book I've read and have enjoyed them both very much -
light-hearted, witty and with a good pace and
plenty of interest. And thank you
too for the recipes at the end of
'Killer Knots'. We have six friends coming for dinner next week
and I have used up most of my favourite
recipes on them already.
So now I only have to get the ingredients and there's nothing more to
worry about! Hazel
I just wanted to tell you I am HOOKED
on your books. I picked up Dead Roots on a whim at the store and
could not put it down. I then found Killer Knots, finished that
very quickly and went on to Perish by Pedicure - loved them all!
I am now ordering your earliest books so that I can get caught
up.
I would love
to know if you have another book in the works and when it will be
coming out? Nancy
I just finished reading "Killer Knots". I've read them all. It
seemed like it was the end of the series. I hope not. Please tell me
there will be more. Pam
I have enjoyed your Bad Hair Day Mysteries.
So far I have read Died Blonde, Hair Raiser, and I am currently reading
Killer Knots. I truly enjoy your books I can not wait to read the
rest of the Bad Hair Day Mysteries. But I especially can not wait to
read Murder by Manicure and Perish By Pedicure. I am a Nail Tech and
those two books got my attention when I was on your website. I ran
cross your books at my local library. Died Blonde was the first book I
read; the cover got my attention. Thanks for the great books. Keep up
the excellent job! Lizzette
Please count me among the big fans of your Bad Hair Day
Mysteries. I know you are taking a break before writing the next
book with the wedding of Marla and Dalton. Just wondering when I should
look forward to reading it. Terry
[Author's Note: Follow my blog for up to date info
on my writing projects.]
I finished Killer Knots. I really liked the way you tied up the
endings. That museum must have had some real interesting staff
meetings. The book was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed reading it
before bed each night. Were all those real neat places on one cruise
you took or several? I've never been on a cruise and had no idea
that all those things - auctions,
talks, assorted tours, shows, etc. - seem to be going on all the time
during the cruise. When do you ever relax? Debbi
I just finished reading Killer Knots and loved it! I've actually
read all of the bad hair day mysteries books in the last few
months. I can't put them down!! Michele
I wanted to write and let you know I'm a big fan of yours, and
how much I really enjoy reading your Bad Hair Day Mysteries. My
favorite so far is Murder By Manicure. I'm always checking for more of
your books to read at my local library. You are a wonderful author,
keep up the great work. Trisha
I have never enjoyed a serious of mysteries more than these. I
have been a hairdresser for 38 years and I have been teaching for
the last ten years. I had my start on L.I., N.Y. and Marla and her
family reminds me of all those dear Jewish clients I used to work on. (
very similar to my Italian family ). As a resident of Tarpon Springs
for 24 years, I can also relate to all the places the stories go to. I
do hope you will continue to keep Marla going. I am on the final book,
Killer Knots. You are such a talented writer. Please keep your readers
posted wit up dates of your current work. Barbara
I love reading your books! I have been a hairdresser for
over 30 years and you have such a knowledge of our profession that I
thought you had roots in hairdressing,
You are an amazing author. I am so thankful I found your
books. Please keep Marla and Dalton going for a long time. Sharon
I loved this book [Killer Knots]! It was so amazing. You have so
much talent and you really know how to keep someone on the edge of
their seat! I didn't see the ending coming out like the way it did. You
are amazing! So are you writing another book ? Maybe continue
with Marla's Wedding?
Leslie

I just finished reading "Body Wave". It was wonderful.
I happened upon your books due to a false alarm in our new library that
set off the sprinkler system. Anyway, many books were ruined but
I guess some
were saved. So pickings are pretty thin right now and your books
stood out to me on their make-shift shelves. I'm so glad I picked
up
"Murder by Manicure". I like manicures, so that attracted me to
your book (besides the colorful cover!). Well, I can't wait to read
another one of your
stories.
Darlene
I just wanted to let you know I'm
addicted to your Bad Hair Day series. I can not put them down!! I just
love the characters and the constant action and mystery. Please keep
them coming ! Tricia
I finished your Perish by Pedicure and it was really good. I love
how you tie in the end to jump start another novel. I also love your
descriptions. You are very meticulous without being boring. I can
actually feel like I am 'there'. Some authors go on and on with
description and one can get lost. No, you do it with a finese that
keeps me focused. Looking forward to reading another book of
yours.
Barbara
I just finished reading KILLER KNOTS and had to write
and tell you THANK YOU for a great read. I loved it!
You had the cruise stuff nailed. My husband and I went on a cruise many
years ago and went to some of the same ports as Marla. I
could so relate to the comments about the cost of all the extras after
thinking that everything was included in the cost of the cruise.
We were young and had to watch our pennies. I can remember when we
were boarding and someone came up to us with a tray of tropical
drinks. We thought they were the complimentary drinks touted in
the brochure and were very disappointed to learn that they were
NOT. However, we managed to have a great time. I am
assuming that you actually went on a cruise and that is why your book
is so true to life. At least I hope you were able to go on the
cruise and charge it off to research :-) Thank you so much
for a most
enjoyable read. I am glad to get to know more about Dalton's
family. It sounds like you have lots more to write about and I am
looking forward to that.
Leslie
I read your
book "Died Blonde" over the last
two days. This was the first book of yours that I've ever
read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I didn't figure out
who the killer was until you revealed him and then I didn't expect the
killer to be him. I will continue to read all of your books in
the future. What a great read!! Carol
I have just finished reading your book,
Permed to
Death. I saw it at my library and the title caught my eye
because I am a Hairdresser and used to work in a city salon. I couldn’t put
the book down; it was really great
and an interesting idea to write about. Thankyou for the
story, it was very easy to read
and I will look for your other titles next time I visit the library. I am a 60 year
old lady from Brisbane Queensland, Australia and have
enjoyed this book very much.
Heather
I just
wanted you to know that I loved Killer Knots. You made great use
of your cruise experiences! I'm already ready for Marla &
Dalton's next adventure.
Kathy
You are a new-to-me
author and having recently read the
first 8 books in the series, I eagerly awaited the latest in the Bad
Hair Day
Mystery series before writing to you. I love Marla and her cast
of
friends, especially Dalton,
Tally, Arnie and Brianna and I love how the mysteries are unraveled
from the
first chapter to the last. The first book I read was Body Wave and I
enjoyed it
so much that I had to read the others in the series.
Thanks for sharing your
stories and I look forward to the
next adventure with Marla and Dalton.
I’m envisioning a wedding. Dru
Ann
I really enjoy reading about Marla and her
adventures. Your books are well written, interesting, and hard to
put down. They're like a good movie--you just want to see what
happens next. Barb
I am an avid reader but must admit that Dead Roots is the
first book of yours that I have read. A friend gave it to me to
read months ago but being unfamiliar with your books, I kind of just
pushed it aside. However, I ended up waiting in the optician's
office for a couple of hours this morning and instead of running over
to Steinmarts to do some shopping, I started reading your book and
could not put it down. Thank you for saving me lots of money lol
and for introducing me to some characters that I really enjoyed.
I finished the book just a few minutes ago and just had to tell you how
much I enjoyed it. I will definitely be looking for all of your
other books to read. Cheryl
I have now finished reading 8 of your
books in the Bad Hair Day series and am looking forward to the next
one. I didn't read them in the order they were written and was
impressed by how you gave just enough information in each one to make
it easy to know what was going on, and how the whole series tied
together. I think it's quite a challenge to get the balance right as to
how much information you add in each book and I think you managed that
brilliantly. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and feel disappointed now
that I have read all that are available. I have put Three Men and a
Body on hold at the library. I don't think they have Killer Knots
yet so I might put in a request for it.
I'm wondering if people have suggested that a TV series or movie be
made out of the stories and characters in your books. I reckon
they could be a great basis for something like that.
Again, thanks for your books which have helped me to enter the land of
reading! Sharon
I am really into your series and have
ordered everything you have
written. Your books make me feel good and for
a senior "alta cocker" that is good. Thank you so very much, Shiela
I have become a strong fan of your
mystery
series, and look forward to reading Perish by Pedicure. In
addition, I have a dear friend who is a stylist and a teacher in a
community college cosmetology school, and your books are going to make
the perfect gifts for me to give her.
Thanks for sharing your creativity. Shannon
Absolutely
love this series, I am starting Highlights to Heaven, they are funny,
romantic and a very good mystery. I just love Marla and Dalton
together and can't wait to see where they end up. Thanks for the great
books. Cindy
I want to let you know how
much I
am enjoying your books. Since
being diagnosed with a serious illness in May, your books have given me
a getaway from my real life. I feel like Marla is a friend.
I just
finished Hair Raiser and am on to Murder By Manicure next. I am
reading these out of sequence, but know what's going on
nontheless. I look forward to reading all of your great
novels. Jan
THANK YOU, NANCY, FOR WRITING SUCH FABULOUS, SPELLBINDING STORIES. I
FEEL LIKE I REALLY KNOW MARLA AND DALTON! I ADORE YOUR BOOK
COVERS!! ALOHA FROM HONOLULU. GINNY
Hello - I
am a reader from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada, it is one of the
western provinces. I recently discovered your books and started
at the beginning and read through them. I am a social
worker/therapist, I also care for my 93 year old mother who is still an
avid reader. Although my life is often hectic and stressful, I
can relax by reading and it is something I have in common with my
mother. I am so grateful to still have her in my life. So we both
enjoy your books. You have a gift for writing, I can't wait until
your next one. Thanks for sharing your gift with us!!
Thanks from Canada. Gwen
I just wanted to say that
I have recently in
the last three months read all of your books that you have
written. Seriously
when I picked up the first one I thought it was going to be a so so
book to
read. Boy was I wrong. I could not put any of the books
down. So I’m
wondering when Killer Knots is due
out and are you working on any other books at this time? Or any
for the
future? I can’t tell you how bummed I was when I had finished the
last
book without having another to go to. Please keep it
up.. You are the greatest..
Thanks. Rose
I am going to start Beauty School
hopefully in July of this year ....
and start my own Beauty Shop, when I do I want every one of your Bad
Hair Day Mystery books in my shop (Hard Back of course)... reading your
books are giving me the encouragement to finally go to school and
follow my dreams. Thank You!!!!!! Kathie
I am on my second Bad Hair Day Mystery. They are just wonderful !!!!!!!
I am a hairdresser and cosmetology instructor. I also live in Tarpon
Springs. I can really relate to the industry in your books; you did
your
homework !!!! In the last book I read Marla visits Tarpon Springs. I
live in walking distance to all the spots you mentioned. There really
is a Harriet who lives in an old house on the corner near the bayou.
Was she the inspiration for your character ? I do hope you
continue the series; your books are very enjoyable. Barbara
I started Perish by Pedicure
this morning and
had it finished by the time midnight hit. It was fantastic!
Marla was juggling so many things, I'm surprised she didn't go
crazy. The "houseguests from Hades" were too much!...A creative
storyline with a twist ending--very entrancing reading. Tammy
I have
just completed Dead Roots and
have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is the first I have read one of
your books, will now look for the others. A friend had given me
some of her books to combine with what I was getting ready to send to a
military facility in Kuwait. This book was in her stack, it
looked interesting so I read it last night and today so it can go with
the rest. I am very glad I paid attention to what she had. I
don't think I am a prude, and I don't have a problem with allusions to
sex, or sexual feelings, I just hate to see them go on for a couple of
pages like in so many books. You had the right balance, a good
story with a little romance. Thanks. I have noted the
names of your other books so will be looking for them at
Barnes & Noble. Peggy
I just read one of your books, the name of it was Highlights to
Heaven. I started reading it around 5pm and couldn't put
it down
until it was done.
Even while I was cooking, I was reading it. I got it from the library.
I just want to let you know that I loved that book. I wish I
could find all of your books so I can have my own. Leslie
I am currently reading your book Dead
Roots. As of right now I'm
on page 120. I have never read that much of a book. I'm only 18 years
old and i didn't graduate high school, but I'm not illiterate or any
thing i just always choose that reading wasn't my thing until this
book. I can relate to Marla because i also went to cosmetology school.
I really just wanted to thank you for writing such a great book, and i
will continue to read on, and other books from your series! Brande
I recently
discovered your books while browsing the mystery
section at the library (I’m sure glad they have colorful
spines!).
I am rapidly tearing through the series and enjoying every page—what a
joy to find mysteries with a sense of humor! You are a talented
author
and an inspiration to me. Susan
I recently read a review on your
newest
book in my local paper. I
decided to start from the beginning. I have read Permed to Death, and
Hair Raiser. They were great.
There is always room in the literary
world for another woman turned sleuth. I am passing them on
to my coworkers,
where we hold a review after everyone has read the book. Keep up the
good work. I look forward to reading my way through them all. Karen
I just wanted to let you know how much
I enjoyed Perish By Pedicure! I
couldn't put down! I can't wait to read your other books! When do you think Killer Knots will be out? Thanks again for writing such a great book!
It was even more fun to read,
as I live in Florida! Dayle
I finished Dead Roots - always enjoy
when you pull together all the plots and relationships and everything
at the end. I thought it was really good.
Debbi
I am a hairstylist in Texas and I just
love your books. I have read Dead Roots and I am now reading your first one, Permed
To Death. I would like to acquire the entire collection. Are there going to be any more than the latest, Perish by
Pedicure? Since I have found the two, I have I decided to read them in order from cover to
cover. Thank you so much for these
wonderful books. Jeri
I just
finished reading Perish by Pedicure. What a great book. Marla did it
again . I can't wait till the next book to find out how Marla and
Dalton are doing and what kind of mystery Marla finds herself involved
with and how she solves it. Marilyn
I am writing to thank you
for the most enjoyable reads and
entertainment from your Bad Hair Day series. I just finished Dead Roots
and am
eagerly looking forward to your next 2 publications. Thank you and
please keep
up the good work. Nicola
Enjoyed Hair Raiser!
Just finished Murder by Manicure
and it was an entertaining read also. I reminisced while reading
about
the old section of Plantation and banyan trees (our friends lived on
Banyan Tree Terrace) and I laughed where you discussed expensive cars
in the parking lot (I remember seeing a fleet of Cadillacs at church
one morning). Noticed Marla is engaged to Vail while reading your
website. Just picked up
Body Wave. -You might say
I’m hooked. Linda
A friend
recommended your book. It was most
enjoyable! First off, we lived in Plantation in late ‘60’ off of
Broward Blvd. We attended St. Gregory’s Church located near
Jacaranda. So the locale was familiar and fun to read. The
plot was
good and the characters were interesting. I loved the Jewish
flavor
with the Yiddish words and the mother who wanted her daughter to find a
nice Jewish boy. Everyone seemed suspicious at first to me.
The setting in the
beauty parlor was perfect. So much goes on in a beauty
parlor. Will
have to give this book to my son’s fiancée as she is a
beautician.
What a hoot! Nice Job! Linda B.
I enjoyed your book [Dead
Roots]. I got it through Books By Mail as I can no longer go to
the library. I especially appreciated the characters and the
action of the mystery. I liked to be able to read a book with a
plot and just not a background for a lot of blow by blow sex. You
handled the intimacy parts well. The excitement of all the
secrets in the buildings and in the family made a good story, out of
the ordinary. I will be looking for more of your books.
Thanks for a good read on a rainy day. Edna
I could say this over and
over again and it wouldn’t
be enough. I just finished the last book Dead Roots in your series
about Marla
Shore. I was just lucky and found your books at our local library.
Please keep
up the great work. Cynthia
I'VE
SNATCHED ABOUT FOUR OF YOUR
BOOKS FROM THE LIBRARY AND HAVE
READ WITH SO MUCH ENJOYMENT...I REALLY HAVE TO THANK YOU FOR
WRITING THEM AS WELL AS OTHERS. YOU HAVE GIVEN YOUR READERS SO
MANY
HOURS OF ENJOYMENT.!!!!!!!!! I LIVE IN BOCA RATON, AM JEWISH AND
ENJOY
ALL THE LITTLE JEWISH LINGO YOU WRITE! THANKS AGAIN FOR GIVING US
THE
READERS SO MUCH FUN! AND CONTINUE TO WRITE MORE BOOKS!!!!
ROBERTA
Hello- love your Bad Hair Day mysteries!! Am
currently devouring
Murder by Manicure, having already read Permed to Death. May I get a
list in order of these fun books?? I am not sure how many there are,
and what order to read them in. I then pass them on to my 86 yr.old
mother, who gets a laugh! I am Jewish, too, though not fron the Kohain
tribe or even a Levite, but Jew none the less, and enjoy all the
Yiddish thrown in! Free bagels for a year??!!! Oy, that's better
than
wholesale!! Keep writing these great books, Ms. Cohen!
Victoria
I am reading your sixth novel, Died Blonde
now. I have enjoyed reading all of your books and I can't wait
until you publish your next book. I will read "Dead Roots"
next. The character Marla Shore reminds me of Nancy Drew except
this series of mystery books are on the adult level. I am read
all of Nancy Drew books when I was a teenager and young adult. I
am middle age now and I am enjoying the Bad Hair Day Mystery. I
belong to a Book Discussion Group at my local county library. I
will tell the other members about your books. If I can makeup
some titles for your Bad Hair Day Mysteries, I will e-mail
you. Keep up the good work! You are an excellent
writer. Deborah
I just needed to write and tell you how
much I loved Dead Roots.
To read a book like yours that is really a page turner is
wonderful. I
found this one in the library and wouldn't you know they don't have
more. I dropped hints at the library and I am keeping an eye out
whenever we hit a place with a book section. I live in central
Florida
and your characters and the background feel like friends. I visited
your website and saw the new ones
coming out. I do have
to find a place that sells your books for I am looking forward to
reading the others. Carole
I just finished your book - Dead Roots
- and enjoyed it
immensely. I always enjoy your books. They are just down to
earth and
since I spent 11 years in Alabama I understand the south.
Thanks and I
will be reading the others soon. Mary
I just LOVE these Bad Hair Day
mysteries. As a nurse/cosmetologist, I fine a special appeal and
connection with these stories. I am looking forward to Perish by Pedicure and anything else coming along! Judy
Reading all of your wonderful Bad Hair
Day mystery stories was a pleasure. I was looking for a good mystery
series to begin while school was out last summer, and I stumbled across
Murder by Manicure. After finishing this book, I decided to look for
another book written by you. Only then, did I realize that there was a
whole series to read! I am still trying to get my hands on Dead Roots.
When I read books, there are certain ideas in each authors’ style that
catch my eye, or help me decide not to continue reading that novelist.
Your books caught my eye because of the unique combination of mystery,
fashion style, Judaism and romance (the cute titles don’t hurt either).
After looking online at your website, I realized that first: I wasn’t
the only fan and that second: there are more of your books to look for!
Maura
I have to tell
you how much I love reading your books! There are so many
odd coincidences that I had to let you know. I live in a suburb
of Rochester, NY; my parents used to live in Hallandale, FL; we used to
go to Jaxson's Ice Cream parlor for those huge sinful sundaes as our
dinner; my Mom now lives just north of Vero Beach...I learned of Tarpon
Springs and its quaint surroundings at the docks in November
during a visit. Two days ago, I was on the phone with my
sister-in-law who was telling me about her visit to Mount Dora staying
at the Lakeside Inn. That afternoon I started reading "Highlights to
Heaven!" Not only do you write of Mount Dora, but also of
Rochester, NY! I enjoy reading about the different FL
locations I've been to and have grown to love. In my younger days
I always said I'd never want to live in FL. . . . well, time changes
and I'm looking forward to retiring there some day. Sandy
I just finished reading
Dead Roots. It was fantastic, and left me hanging for more!! Please
tell me you are working on the next one in the series. Thanks for such
a great read. Krystal
Wow I can't wait to read the new series! I am just starting Murder by Manicure. I finished Highlights to Heaven last night. I love how the stories always end with Marla and Vail together. They are so romantic, you are an amazing writer. I am currently sick right now, so curling up with your books are great entertainment! Thank you for your talent and for writing me back, that means a lot. Have you ever thought of making movies? I would buy them too. Talk to you later, I am going to start my new book. Leslie
I LOVE that Marla's not your average white-bread-Wasp AND she's a strong smart Southern woman! It seems I always have a copy of one of the books in my briefcase for slow times in the courtroom when I can sneak in a few pages. I'm so happy to see that another title will be out in December and you're working on yet another. Mary
I
am a salon owner in Ohio and I just love your Bad Hair Day Mysteries!
Please let me know when the 8th book comes out. Lisa
I absolutely love the Marla
mysteries.Sometimes it is hard to find an author that you can keep
reading over and over. I have
only found a few....Robin Cook, Patricia Cromwell (love Kay Scarpetta
series), Mary Higgins Clark, and YOU! Also, are you familiar with the
Savannah Reid mysteries by G. A. McKevett? They remind me of your
series too. I love them also. Anyway,
I am anxiously waiting on the next one. I just finished DEAD ROOTS. Now
if you could only write them as fast I read them! Kim
I just finished reading DEAD ROOTS. I would say this is my favorite Marla adventure. I am so glad to hear they are going to buy a different house together. And the spa services in the salon is a great idea.(yes if I were independently wealthy, I would add that to my little shop). Keep them coming. And send Marla on more vacations, please. She works hard, she deserves them. LOL Linda
Just finished DEAD ROOTS this weekend. Once again, another delightful read. Looking forward to the next release. I used to live in Naples and Tampa, so when you've mentioned certain roads in previous books like Alligator Alley and different towns that I've been through, it makes my mind give a better picture of the story. Sandi
I live in Punta Gorda FL..and i just LOVE your books..they are
funny, informational, interesting, and suspenseful..I have checked all
the ones out of the library and am waiting for your new book to come
out. I can just picture Marla talking!!! Phyllis
I have read all of the Bad Hair Day
Mysteries and I am currently
reading Dead Roots. I started it last night and I know that by
tonight
I'll be looking for something else to read. I can't wait for your
next
book. Charlene
Holy
highlights! [Dead Roots] is the best so far. You are doing
it, girl. So very interesting, charming, irresistable, hard to
put down- this book kept me glued for three days until I just finished
it! Bev
I enjoy your books a lot. In
fact this is the first mystery series I can honestly say I have read
every book to. Your bad hair day mysteries are fun and intriguing
without being gruesome. Thanks for
a quality series. I just saw Dead Roots and am about to order
it. Look forward to reading it as well as Crew Cut when it comes
available.
Dawn
I took "Dead Roots" and started reading some more. It is just so
relaxing and fun. I just had to tell you because I know there are many
others who feel just like I do! It is such a treat! I make time to read
your books because they are filled with imagination and humor and
insight and everything just seems to come to life in a good way. I just
wanted to tell you. I know your readers often get busy and may not
always take that moment in time to tell you just how much they enjoy
your books. But I can tell you that I really enjoy reading your
wonderful series, can't wait til your next book, am so glad that you
created this divinely wonderful and enjoyable series for us, and my
feelings are shared with many, many readers just like me! Teresita
I’ve just finished reading
Murder by Manicure. I love these amusing mysteries that take place in Florida. This book was excellent and I thoroughly
enjoyed it. I can't wait
to start reading some of your other books.
As soon as I am done with this email, I am going on your website. Nadine
I just finished reading Murder by Manicure and I loved it. I bought it for the title to give to my manicurist as a joke but...after I gave it to her, I read the fly leaf and borrowed it back because it looked so good. We laughed as
I read what the story was about because she works part time for a pharmacist named Hank. She made me promise not to tell her about the story, but it's going to be difficult. I have decided to go out and get the first books you wrote so
I could see how Marla has evolved. Looking forward to more good reading. Ginger
I just finished reading Murder by
Manicure....my first time reading any of your books and loved it. I can't wait to
read another one. It's not often that you find books that are so much fun to
read. No vulgarity, just clean fun and adventure. Thanks
so much for providing such an entertaining book. Maritheresa
Just finished "Highlights to Heaven". I have also read "Body Wave". I saw the article about you in one of the Sunday supplements. I really enjoyed Highlights as we live in Leesburg Florida and go to Mount Dora frequently. Yesterday we were in Mount Dora at the Ice House Theatre. We have eaten in Dickens-Reed and also The Goblin Market. It is enjoyable to read a story when you are familiar with the area. Just wanted you to know that I enjoyed your stories. I am an avid mystery reader. Sam
I recently
read your profile in Southern Living and have since discovered your
books. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much
I have enjoyed them. I just finished 'Highlights to Heaven'
today. 'Died Blonde' is on it's way from Amazon and I've
pre-ordered 'Dead Roots'. I've ordered additional copies of
'Permed to Death' for both my hairdresser and my boss. My boss is
Jewish and I've told her about your series. She'll love them. Carol
I just love the "Bad Hair Day" mystery
series. Marla is a great
character, Dalton is so sexy and I just love Brianna. I think
Marla and Dalton are a very modern Nick and Nora Charles.
Elsie
Your books are absolutely wonderful and
strangely have brought me a great deal of comfort. Since I live in
Tampa and am familiar with
the East Coast as well, and my husband and I enjoyed Tarpon
Springs on many occasions - it makes Marla's adventures even more
interesting and exciting!
Jean
I just discovered your
wonderful BAD HAIR DAY MYSTERIES! I found "Highlights to HEAVEN" at the
library. Then I went back to find #1-#4 up to BODY WAVE. I am now going
to go back and see about where "Died Blonde" is and make sure our
Sacramento Public Library system adds this book to the collection we
have. Then I will make a library suggestion for purchase and recommend
"Dead Roots." I would like to
add that I have really enjoyed the refreshing books you have created
for us. There are a pleasure to read. I can sit and just really enjoy
Marla and her adventures. You have combined so many elements of writing
into a great package for us to open and enjoy. I would say that in a
world filled with so much chaos and confusion, your books are indeed a
very bright escape for us and a real gem that provides readers with a
happy feeling from sharing the adventure. I have been
reading mysteries since I was a young girl in Los Angeles. I am now a
52 yr. old wife, mom, cat lover and avid mystery reader. Your books are
a
real joy and a rare find that provides the reader with hours of
relaxation and excitement and a good mystery to solve. I am enjoying my
travels with Marla and her friends and Dalton and Briana and am
definitely looking forward to more books.Thank you for
giving us your time and energy in the creation of a delightful and
pleasurable read for mystery lovers. Teresita
I just got done reading Murder by Manicure. I found your books browsing the Myst. section at B&N!! It combines two things I love: Mystery and Hairstyling! I now want to style my own hair, instead of paying $13.00 for a haircut that makes me unhappy once I leave the salon. I have black hair that I highlight with Sun-in. So it now has a orange/brown shade! I like it! Anyway, I think Marla Shore is a funny character, especially when she thinks in "funny" print in the book. I have read the book mentioned above, plus Highlights to Heaven and Body Wave. I can't wait to read the others. Lux
Greetings, I have been reading your "Bad Hair Day Mysteries"since discovering one in my local library. I want to thank you for writing such fun books. I know when I see one of your books that I can count on a good story with some humor AND suspense. (I just love that combination). As a former hairstylist, I can tell you that the character of Marla Shore rings very true. Marla could be any of a number of hairstylists I have worked with (although she is smarter and has more
savvy than most). I don't write to authors lightly-even though your statement "I love to hear from readers" was a nice nudge- I read many many books. Since I don't have any great wisdom to impart or any brilliant questions to ask, I will simply say THANK YOU one more time and wait for your next book. Gene
The reason I bought your BAD
HAIR DAY MYSTERIES, is your last name COHEN. That's my last name,
and
I said someone with that last name has to be a GOOD WRITER. You
were
beyond GOOD; you're OUTSTANDING. I'm reading the last book DIED
BLONDE. When I start reading them, I can't stop because I want to
see
what Marla gets into. I'm so looking forward to DEAD ROOTS when
it
comes out in December.
You don't find many authors
who
write without swear words or sex. I don't mind some, but some
authors
get carried away and it turns me off.
Keep up the good work!!!!
Lois
I've just read Died Blonde and was thinking if you ever turn one of
your books into a movie, the only actress who could play Marla
would have to be Fran Drescher. Love your books!
Laura
I was at the library, and the
cover of Died Blonde caught my eye, then I saw the title: it
was love at first sight!
Finally, a series I can relate to (
cosmetology lingo)! Although I am
late in starting the series, I loved Died Blonde!! Hair is my life! I
am not a cosmetologist, but I do hair now. Thank you for keeping
me from watching another repetitive sitcom on regular t.v. I hope to get the previous series (my local
library only had two of the books), and look forward to many
more. Katrina
I read your
new novella -- what a smash! Can't wait to see how those two make out
-- although they seem to be making out quite a bit already -- are they
a possible springboard for a new series?...What a dynamite
description you did of the water, boats, and Rex's strong feelings for
the water -- slicing under the bow as it split through the waves, and
the dolphins -- yep, you got it all there -- i could have sworn i was
there too, that's how good the description was!
Brenda
I just finished reading Highlights to Heaven and it was a non-stop
read! I enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery as I was reading the
book.
I love when a book can draw me in on the first page and your book did
just
that. I wish you much success in your career. And you live in a great
state
where it is sunny all year round compared to Chicago! Stacy
I'm 17 years old and I am one of your greatest fans. At first I really didn't like reading, then when my mother and I went into a bookstore we found your books. When school had started I had needed a book for my classes for fifteen minutes, so I chose one of your books. Once I started reading your books I couldn't put it down, the fifteen minutes became twenty and then forty-five minutes and then it became an hour. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish because my school is known for stealing anything they can get their hands on. So then I started another one of your books, BODY WAVE. I am really loving your books, now I just need to get the rest of your books. I haven't really had time to go out and get them because my mother is in and out of the hospital. But I plan to get them all, even the one that was stolen. I was wondering if the stories that you write become movies, if they are could you please give me the names of the movies, and if they aren't I really think you should consider it because they would make really great movies. Katie
I just finished reading your latest book, DIED BLONDE, and i enjoyed it as i've enjoyed all your books. my husband and i live in maryland, however, our daughter lives in royal palm beach. she works for the south florida water management district, so when you mentioned it in this latest book, i was very pleased to read that. i look forward to reading
the next book in this series. Susan
I just finished reading Highlights to Heaven and it was a non-stop
read! I enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery as I was reading the

I already read your first book and I just finished your second. Hair
Raiser was terrific and I wanted to tell you that I enjoyed it
very much. I started
Murder By Manicure today. I love animals, especially ferrets and dogs
and I'm glad that Marla has a dog named Spooks. Terrific name!...Thank you for writing
the very best mysteries I have read in a long time.
It's easy to read and lots of fun figuring
out who did it...I look forward to reading all
your
other books. Michelle
I just wanted
to say your Bad Hair Day series is so great! I picked them up from our
library a day before Ivan hit us here in Mobile and read them the
whole time our power was out when I wasn't cleaning up the mess left
behind.
I am now getting ready to buy your series and add it to my book shelf.I
really did not think a book could make me smile and laugh during such a
bad time but I was so wrong! Thank You for writing such a great series.
Jenny
This is the first of your books that I’ve read – I just happened on it
at the local Public Library. Now I will have to start at the
beginning and read all the series, just as I have done with Mary
Higgins Clark and Patricia Cornwell. I
have recommended your books to a co-worker who also loves murder
mysteries. Becky
Just letting you know how much I'm enjoying Marla Shore and
friends/family. I was a hairdresser at one time, and noticed that
she does the
same thing I used to do - look at someone and envision that person with
a new look. Also, my mother is originally from central Florida and had
sisters who lived all over that state, and I've always felt drawn to
that
area. Thanks again for "thinking up" Marla Shore - she's delightful!
Alyce
Thank you for creating such entertaining reading. I love to read
a lot. Being an at-home caregiver for my husband and son who are both
disabled , reading is MY Calgon bath! Your books make me laugh and I
spend
most of my time reading with a big old grin pasted on my face! ha!
Thank
you for making me smile. Sally
I have read the first three installments of your Bad hair day
mysteries. They are just wonderful. I live in Miami, and I am a
voracious reader. I love mysteries with women as the central character.
Yours are so funny, and being a Floridian, its fun when you can
identify locations. My favorite was Permed to Death. Also, I'm
a teacher, and it was quite amusing to have to explain that
title. I just really want to commend you for your talent, and hope that
you continue this series. Also, I really hope Marla and Vail stay
together. I hope that she can overcome her fears about children and be
a good stepmother to Brianna. I wanted to ask, what made
you want to write this series? Are there other books in this series?
Your
biggest fan, Laura
It is a pleasure to read your books
- they
are witty and funny. I just wish there were more - I have read up
to
Body Wave , which I intend to start tonight and I eat them up in no
time.
I have a stressful day at work and sitting down with your books and
coffee
before going to work and then reading a bit here and there at night
gives
me a lift and takes my mind off of the stress. Thank you for your work - and keep going I want to
know what happens with Marla and Dalton. Lori
I am 21 and I am a 1st time reader of THE BAD HAIR DAY
MYSTERIES. The first book I read was HIGHLIGHTS
TO HEAVEN. It was such a good book I could not put it
down!!!!! Right now i am currently reading HAIR RAISER, and
so far I like it. When I read your books I feel like I'm right there
in the action. I love Marla she's so fun and loves to get into trouble
and the detective hot stuff there!!!!! I can't wait to read the rest or
the BAD HAIR DAY MYSTERIES, and I look
forward
to DIED BLONDE and DEAD ROOTS!!!
Keep up the good work and the stories. Jessica
I just finished reading Body Wave. It was great. I
really enjoyed the info on tilapia. I only became familiar with
this fish in the last year. Ruby Tuesday has a great sandwich, using
this fish. I also enjoyed the info on coffee. I think it
is great the way you not only entertain, but we also learn something
from your books. Thanks for the pleasure of reading your
books.
Joan
Just want to say thanks for another great book. I just
finished Highlights to Heaven and will be anxiously awaiting your next
release later this year.
I wish I had a Marla Shore around here to do my hair. I really
get into the characters and their lives. Debbie
I've been a fan of yours since your first book and I'm eagerly reading "Highlights to Heaven" right now. Although I live in N.J. I love Florida and the sunny weather and hope someday to move there. In addition to being an animal lover also (my husband is a veterinarian) I love that your books incorporate Marla's religion. Abby
i just finished reading your book Body Wave. i thought it was fantastic. i am glad there are books like this one out there, i have looked in the teen book section and i have to say there are so many books about personal growth but i dont really like that kind of book. it was sort of an accident i even came across your book. my friend and i were in the book store when she decided to pull a book off the top shelf and pulled like twenty down onto me. yours was the one that landed in my lap. i just wanted to say that your book was really great and inspired me to do some writing of my own. Carly
I've just finished reading your book "Permed to Death". It was so good, I could hardly put it down! I'm always on the lookout for light mysteries without a lot of gore. Your's is just the kind of book I love to read! I can't wait to read the next book. I found all the characters to be really interesting and look forward to reading more about them. Thanks so much for a great book! Karen
Just had to e-mail you to say how refreshing it is to read something that still leaves something to the imagination and every other adjective is not a foul word. I am an owner-operator of a salon in a very small town in the northern part of California...Used to be a rail head for shipping cattle years ago and logs. But you know what happens to places when the freeway passes you by...I'm not sure if you are interested in country input or not but I would love to tell you of some of our humor here...But most of all keep up the good stories. Can't wait to get your next book. Helen
JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I HAVE ENJOYED YOUR BOOKS. THEY ARE WELL THOUGHT OUT AND YOUR CHARACTER "LEAPS WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TRED". THANK YOU FOR ALL THE ENTERTAINMENT. Nancy
I rediscovered you before I went on vacation to Boca recently, and I read about Marla for 2 weeks straight. Interestingly in one of the books, Marla and Tally, were eating at Legal's, as did I, right before i read it in the book...I collect mysteries set in Florida, and was in the BookWise book store, and found 2 new ones, which thrilled me no end..when the lady asked if I would like to see more of the same, she brought me over to a shelf, and I had more than the book store,:):) so I will happily add your books to my shelf...
After getting my Festival Flea market fix in Pompano, [3 times] I absolutely believe this is a good setting for a Marla murder mystery.
Also, since I work for a cruise websight, what about a Marla goes to Sea mystery So Fla is the perfect setting...Please write fast....I have gone through all your books, and hope a new one is due soon. Linda
Thanks for a great typo-free mystery! I worked for 6 weeks in Fort Lauderdale back in 1981 so [HAIR RAISER] brought back memories of heat and humidity, sea food and ripe fruit. I did see drug dealing but no murders thankfully! I look forward to more of your hair raising adventures. I enjoy that your book was in large print at my library. Thanks and keep writing, Beverly
I have read all of your books and I just finish reading your
new one "Highlights to Heaven." Now I am ready for another one of
your books. When do you have another one coming
out? It took me two days to read your book. I just didn't
want to put it down because Marla and detective Dalton Vail are so good
together. Marla, keeps you guessing what she is going to do
next...Nancy,
keep the good work up because your books are such good read and they
keep you guessing. You are as good as Mary Higgins Clark.
I read her books as fast as I read yours. Because you have a
story
to tell. Love your work and I can't wait for your next
book. Gail
I just discovered your Bad Hair Day Mysteries. I am a romance reader and really don't read mysteries. I love this series. Just finished the first two and
am starting Murder by Manicure. Love your humor and characters. The books are entertaining and fast reads. Looking forward to reading the next ones. Hope you keep them coming. Donna
I happened to come across your books in my library and immediately read "Permed to Death", then "Murder by Manicure". Now I'm into "Hair Raiser" and enjoying them tremendously. I first read almost all of the alphabet mysteries by Sue Grafton when I broke my wrist, then a couple by Marcia Muller, V.I.Warshawski's creator and a number of others. I'm interested only
in women sleuths by women writers and while some have disappointed me, you have not. I have recommended them to a few of my friends telling them how fun and easy they are to read. The great escape. I'm enjoying the tension between Marla and Dalton, in fact, he is sprouting in my dreams & it's quite exciting (of course, he's interested in moi!). I admire your efforts in writing and combining it with a family. Please let me know what's next. Gloria
I just wanted you to know how much I am enjoying your books - I have now read Hair Raiser and Murder by Manicure and am looking forward to reading Permed to Death and Body Wave! Are you planning to write another wonderful Marla mystery? (I adore her character) I really hope so. There is something about your writing that is so captivating that it is very hard to put the book down!! I love it!! Ginnie
I have only read your first 2 books but I absolutely love
them. I will be sure and look on the library's computer to
see if they have the rest of your books. They are a
delight. Once I have started one, I won't put it down until I am
finished. Last night, I took one into the bathroom and read while
I took a
bubble bath. Thanks for the great reads and please keep up the
great work!! Debbi
I really enjoy this series. I got my daughter to read one and she
was hooked. We are both waiting for
the book to become available at the library. I requested two
copies at my branch so we don't fight over who is going to read it
first. Gail
Hi,
I just discovered your books a week ago and wanted to let you know just
how much I have enjoyed the first two books "Permed to Death" and
"Hair Raiser" and am getting read to read "Murder by Manicure" which I
checked out of our local library. I know it must be very exciting for
you to be a mystery writer. You have a fan for life in me. Barbara
I just finished Hair Raiser, I loved it. Last week I read Permed to
Death. It was a super book. I do Daycare and one of my mom's is a hair
stylist so I gave it to her, now 2 women she works with want to read
it. I'm on my way to get Murder By Manicure. Michelle
I just finished your first 3
books and you can bet I'll get Body Wave tomorrow. But I
wanted to say , "Wow! Loved your writing, characters and
will anxiously await the next books. You are right up there
with Janet Evanovich (Have to be loyal because her books are set
in my home neighborhood.) This genre of serial mysteries is
wonderful. As if you don't hear it too often: I, too am a nurse
and have always felt there's a book inside me.
Thanks for a great read and keep them coming.
Terri
I must admit, I was drawn to this book simply by the title. I am a nail
technician (or nail specialist as I like to call it), so obviously the
title grabbed me. Upon reading the book, I enjoyed the fact that
your main character is a hair stylist/salon owner. I could relate
to her right away. Then when I
realized she was interested in the Detective, I had to smile to
myself. I just recently married a Detective. Those men in
blue certainly exude charm....haha.I also enjoyed that the book took
place in
Florida, another coincidence, I live in Gainesville Florida. I have not
yet been able to find any other books in the series, but I am anxiously
looking. Since I started with the third one, I want
to go back and read the first two before continuing on. ..Thank you for
providing me with a new series to become addicted to. I can't
wait to find and read them all. Laura
I have now read all your books and enjoyed every one. We have a
small condo in Pompano Beach, Florida right across from the Hillsboro
lighthouse and I just love reading your descriptions of all the
places I know so well. Especially fun was the "Schlock Mart"
which I am sure was the Swap Shop on
Sunrise. Just reading the description took me right back there
in my mind. The sights, the smells, etc. There is just
no place like it. In fact, whenever we have company visit, that
is a must see place. It's just so multi-cultural. Please
keep writing these books as I smile through every
one. Body Wave had a lot of red herrings and I was kept
guessing almost until
the very end. How about The Festival on Sample road? Could
that make it's way into a future book? Or perhaps the Sawgrass
Mall. . . lots of things can happen in a place that big. Or that
lovely book store on Sunrise near the ocean. It sits right on
a canal and you can take your book selection and coffee outside and sit
at the water's edge. I would love to hear the way you describe
that
setting. Keeps me happy while I'm stuck in a Michigan winter
until
I can go south. Thank you for the hours of reading enjoyment.
Belinda
"I just finished reading Body Wave this morning, what a great sassy
book. I am a Manhattanite recently moved to
Connecticut and an avid reader. So good to find a new and
entertaining author. The Tarpon Springs
references were so much fun for my husband and I because we visit that
area at least 3 times a year and have taken captain Mikes Sponge
Diving Boat trip. We also passed by Pappas. Your work is
energetic, amusing and a delight to read out in my yard
while watching my maggie dog play. Thanks for your hard work
in putting together this series. I plan to read all of your stories now."
Nancy
"I'm a reader of
your Bad
Hair Day Mysteries and I just wanted to let you know that I thoroughly
enjoy them...I can't wait to get my hands on "Body Wave" and am looking
forward to the release of "Highlights to Heaven". When will
"Highlights" be released?? Thank you so much for your novels....they
are so great to read and I just love Marla.....whenever I read a
line where Marla is thinking to herself and she says something and
adds pal to the end of it....just makes me
chuckle!! Your plots and characters are always great!!"
Brenda
"I was so thrilled to be able to have the chance to write to you
personally via email, and tell you how much I enjoy reading your Bad
Hair Day series. I have read all four that are out so far and was
disappointed when I learned I would have to wait several months
before your next two come out. I have written down their names
so I can be sure to get them as soon as they are published.
I have enjoyed reading Diane Mott Davidson's books in the past,
as well as Janet Evanovich and have read all of theirs as well, more
than once even. I love reading about Florida via your books.
They are so entertaining. The one in which Tarpon Springs was involved
was especially interresting to me, as my daughter lives in Tarpon
Springs just a couple blocks away from the sponge docks and we have
strolled up/down the street enjoying the gift shops ourselves many
times...I have told my friends how great your books are, and they are
now reading your books and enjoying them also. It was such a pleasure
to write to you. Thanks for the opportunity, and I am anxiously
awaiting your latest ones to come out...Keep up the series, it is my
favorite
one, and I am sure I am not alone in my feelings, you no doubt have a
tremendous
following of fans of your work." Connie
"I recently read your latest book, Body Wave, and want to
compliment you on another wonderful book. In fact, I think I
enjoyed it more than all the others. I have a couple of interesting
comments however; in one scene the couple is going out at night for a
meal, and shivering and saying how cold it is at 50; I really had
to laugh at that, because up here in the NW, at 50 degrees some people
are wearing shorts as we consider it nice weather.
I also really enjoyed the research and focus on the Tilapia part of
the story. We have recently started getting it in some grocers up
here; although I do not eat it being a vegetarian, my Mom has had it
several times and enjoyed the flavor a lot. So that part of your story
was very interesting and informative to us." Peggy
"I just came back from a cruise on the Explorer of the Seas,
Royal Caribbean
Line and had the opportunity to visit the ship's library where I found
your
book, "Murder by Manicure." I loved it! As I was reading the book
it
caught the eye of one of the other passengers. On the last day of the
cruise
I passed the book to that person. I enjoyed relating to many of the
areas
that you mentioned in the book. We are of the Jewish faith and I
enjoyed
the familiar words you used to enhance the story. I did ask the lady
that
I let borrow the book to return it to me when she was finished. I
want
to pass the book along to my son and his wife's family. I know
they
would enjoy it as much as I did. I hope to read more of your books in
the
future." Natalie
"When will your next book will be out in the bad hair series,
"Highlights to Heaven"? I can't wait to read this one
because I have read each one and you keep me guessing. I
think I have figured it out and you put another twist in it. You
keep me coming back to your books. Now I have read them all and
Body Wave was so very good now am looking for something else to read
that is good and keeps my mind moving. Gail
"Hi, I just finished reading "Murder By Manicure". It was a
page turner. I am a Nail Technician and one of my
clients brought it in for me to read. I am interested in the other
books in the series. Are they still available?"
Cathy
"I am a court reporter in Dade and Broward and spend a lot of
time waiting
for witnesses to show-up for depositions, especially cops, so Marla and
the
gang keep me entertained. Thanks for a smart and likeable
character. Keep up the good work!" Donna
"Just wanted to let you know how much I love your "Bad Hair Day"
mysteries. I have just finished #3 and am anxiously waiting for
#4. Sure hope Marla and Dalton can have a better relationship
this
time out, and that his daughter will finally accept her. I
can usually figure out a good mystery before the end, but yours keep
me guessing all the way through...We lived in Ft. Lauderdale for 13
years and so a lot of the places you mention are familiar, though we
left there in 1977 and we know there have been a lot of changes since
then...We worked for the U.S. Postal Service all over the
area...Anyhow,
thank you so much for your stories. I do really enjoy them." Helen
"After having lunch with my mom, we went to the library across
the parking
lot. I found your mystery novel on the cart ready to be shelved. I love
a
good mystery..after all I grew up with Nancy Drew. I looked for the
first
two books but they were out. I started reading and was surprised that
the
novel took place in Plantation...We moved there in 1979. I work at my
friend's
antique store...where a young man from Michigan noticed what I was
reading..he said he loved your books and suggested that I read Hair
Raiser..he was shaved
bald!. Your novels appeal to a diverse audience. I can't wait to find
out
who murdered Jolene and the Zelmans..will Marla..a nice Jewish
girl...end
up with the policeman?" Heather
"I have read all of your beauty parlor books and loved every one
of them. I can't wait for the new one that will be out in a year. While
I was reading your books, I felt like I was right there
with you in the beauty parlor. I hope there are more to come. I
only wish that you would go on tour in New Jersey as I would like
to meet you and get your autograph. Thank you for giving me many hours
of pleasure reading." Barbara
"I've read all your books in this series so far. I really enjoy
them as my youngest daughter is a hair stylist with her own salon. We
bring the ones we've read to the salon for the clients to enjoy!! They
love them. Can't wait to read the next ones." Sandra
"I had managed to pick up your new book "Body Wave" on
Saturday. We had unexpected snow accumulation on Sunday and I was
able to sit in front of the fireplace and enjoy your book.
Completely forgot about the snow and finished the book last night
before I went to bed. It was a nice read....I enjoy Marla's
adventures!! Take care & keep the "Bad Hair Day" mysteries
coming !!!" Virginia
"I just had to tell you that I finished Hair Raiser on Sunday. It
was a rainy, yucky day and I just sat and read the book until I
was done!! Of course, it was great!...I had to smile when you
said that Jewish mothers love to feed their kids, it's the same
way for Italian moms!! My mom is the happiest when you ask for a second
helping! (mostly men ask for second helpings). After I finished
the book I wished that I could call up Marla and ask her about my ugly,
curly hair! I am sure she is the only one that would be able to help
me manage my hair now that I am trying to grow the layers long. After
seeing your picture I am sure your length is what I need, but I just
want to try a bit longer hair so much, but with some short layers the
sides "puff" out, not a pretty sight...I had to order your Permed to
Death at the library and will get that in a few days. After that I will
just wait for your new book, that I think
you said will be out in December... I just love to read so much, I
much rather read then go to a movie. I "picture" the action in my mind
and the clothes that they are wearing
and everything that I am reading." Barbara
"I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I have
really enjoyed
your books. I just finished "Murder by Manicure". I first
found
your work about a year ago when I was traveling from my home in
Cincinnati to visit family in Ashtabula, Ohio (a very long, very boring
6 hour trup). My husband and I stopped in a truck stop and there
on the shevles next to Star Trek books and "true crime" pulp was your
delightful "Permed to Death". Having already read all the book I
had brought for the trip, I purchased your book and read it cover to
cover." Candy
"Must write and thank you for this delightful novel. Ruined
my sleep for 24 hours! Picked it up at
bedtime last night and dropped off to sleep with the lights still
on! Busy all morning, but decided a nap was in order this
afternoon. Picked up your book, and
the story kept me awake all nap time. But did finish the
book!
So refreshing find an author who can truly entertain without foul
language, and sickeningly graphic sex scenes. Your sense of humor
is charming, and I can hardly wait to find copies of your other
novels. Worth losing sleep over any day! Will certainly recommend
your books to our friends, know they will appreciate your efforts,
too." Kit
"I wanted to write and tell you how much I enjoyed your book,
Hair Raiser.
I have been a hairdresser in the Fort Lauderdale area for 15 years, and
forensic
science has been a hobby of mine for just as long. I had a great time
reading
your book; I loved the extremely familiar setting, from the salon to
the
home town. I can't wait to read the rest of the series." April
"I just picked up your third book to read. I just can't put them
down!!! I found Murder by Manicure first & then had to get your
others, starting with your first (Permed to Death)
& I just picked up Hair Raiser today. I live in Melbourne, Florida
& it was interesting to read about areas that I was familiar
with. I don't normally read a lot. My favorite pass time is to crochet.
I have been encouraging my daughter to read more this summer, so
I picked up some books to read along with her. I am so glad
that I had found yours. I have also reccommended them to my
mother-in-law. When will your next book be out? Have you written any
other books that
aren't part of Marla's
mysteries? Thanks for writing such great books that keep me wanting
more!" Elaine
"Just finished reading Hair Raiser and I really enjoyed it. I am
an avid fan of Mary Higgins Clark and Margaret Coel and when I
go to the library I always check to see if there is anything new
by those authors. The
bright pink words "Hair Raiser" caught my
eye on the binding of your book so I thought I would give it
a read. Your writing drew me right in just like Clark and Coel.
I can't wait to read your other books-it's always so fun to find
another great writer. Thanks so much and keep up the good work." Nancy
"I JUST FINISHED READING PERMED TO DEATH. IT WAS GREAT. I ALSO AM
A HAIRDRESSER IN SUNRISE, FL. SO MANY OF THE PLACES WERE
FAMILIAR. I HOPE TO PICK UP THE REST OF YOUR
BOOKS. THEY ARE EASY READING AFTER A ROUGH DAY. KEEP
THEM GOING." Sue
"I just finished your book Permed To Death, and I just loved
it...I'm also a hairdresser and I think it was very
kind of you to check with your stylist to
see that every thing was correct. THANK YOU VERY MUCH
FOR THE EXCELLENT BOOK." Linda
"Just wanted to let you know how much I
enjoyed your books. I am a bookseller for a bookstore called 'A
Novel Place' in Osseo Minnesota. We sell both Used and New books and I
would like to be on your mailing list if I can. I was
a bookseller at B Dalton's until the store closed and I introduced your
books to customers and they not only loved the book but came back
asking when the new book would be coming out. I hope to do the
same at my new home at 'A Novel Place'." Carol
"I am a registered nurse in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and
in the
past I have taken care of several "near drowning" patients. Usually the
child
has died or been severely brain damaged. I just wanted to let you
know
how wonderful I feel it is that you frequently mention the need for
fences
around pools and supervision of children.
Time and again I have had weeping parents
tell me their child knew not to go around the pool or creek or
river when an adult was not near. I have passed your books around
to my friends at work and family members and they all agree with
me. Thank you for an entertaining read and for slipping a little
community education on the side."
Kathleen
"I just read your book Murder by Manicure. I am happy to say that
I absolutely loved it! I could relate very well to
all of your characters, expecially Marla.
Her way of thinking and her brave actions reminded me very much
of myself. Trouble always seems to follow me where I go. I knew
immediately that I had to read this book as soon as I saw it.
What can I say... I'm just a girl who loves hair, makeup,
fashion,
and all the materials of a woman's world. Also I think we all know
someone like Cookie, a real bitch who always seems to be in our way. Ha
Ha and I
think every woman has a "Dalton Vail" in their lives! I know I sure
do. Your characters captured " the good the bad and the ugly" of
people today, and thats why I loved it. I look forward to reading your
next book. Keep on
writing Honey, you've got a talent!" Julie
"This is a brief note from Zimbabwe. I have just finished
your book which was sent to me by my daughter who, thank goodness, is
living in London. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't know if
you follow events in Zimbabwe but a little light reading takes one's
mind off the horrors that we are living through...thank you for
entertaining us." Clare
"Enjoyed Murder by Manicure and will be at the library looking
for the
other three in this series. ALSO loved the Noodle Kugel (I used
1/2
the butter and the sour cream and it was GREAT!) Would it be
possible to get the recipe for the Lemon Bread Pudding?
puleeze??? It sounds delicious. Thanks again for the great
read. Will be taking the noodle dish to the next pot-lucks of our
weavers guild and other meetings." Jeanne
"I have read Permed to Death, Hair Raiser, and Murder By
Manicure. I
love this series. I can't wait until the other book comes out. I am
writing because I was given an assignment in school (I am in the 10th
grade) and I had to do a critical book report and I wanted you to read
it. I did it on Murder By Manicure. So here it is. I attached it to
this letter. I think that you are a wonderful writer. Thank you." Savannah
"I just finished reading "Murder by Manicure" and enjoyed it
immensely (as usual). I LOVED reading
about the Plantation and Sunrise areas. It was like being in both
towns... I was just at Macaroni Grill this
past week so I was chuckling over that as well! Keep up the great
work. Let me know when your next Bad hair day mystery is coming
out! Thanks! By the way, I read the book in 3 hours this
weekend!" Allison
I just got done reading 'Hair Raiser'. Like your first one
I
really enjoyed it. I would like to tell you how I came across
your
book. I was on a break from work and I went to the drug store to
get
something and I walked past the bookshelf and your book just kind of
jumped
out at me. I told myself that I just had to buy it. I think
what
really caught me was the title. Since I'm a hairdresser I just
had
to read it. Your book was the first mystery book that I had
read
in a few years. I must admit it had me stumped. The one
person
that I thought did ended up dead. I had no idea who did it until
the
last few pages. It was so good that I had to get your other
ones.
I didn't think it would ever come out in paperback. I think this
time I'm going to order 'Murder by Manicure' hard back tomorrow.
I can't wait for three or four months until it comes out in
paperback. Any way, I just wanted to tell you that in the
shop that I
work at we passed your first one throughout the shop. We
all enjoyed it. Tomorrow I will take this one and it will make its
circle. I read on your web page that you have other one coming
out. I can't wait to read them. Thank you so much for
writing about a beauty shop." Kim
"...the book is a s(h)earing tale of cuts,
bruises (some egos) and root-curling, hair-raising murder and mayhem."
Joe Gregg, author
of The Jugglers
"I love the Bad Hair Day Mysteries. I will
put Murder By Manicure on my WANT list!! Sure wish I lived in Florida
so I could get to one of your signings." Leslie
"I just wanted you to know that I enjoy
your books!
Between my Mom and my sister, we have a lot of fun reading your
books.
They are funny and an easy read when we need to escape the daily
problems
in life. Please keep writing. We can't wait for your next
book!"
Paris
"I just finished your second book. I saw
that I could email you. So here goes... I loved both of your books...
One of my sisters has her own hair salon in
Santa Barbara and I will tell her to read them too.. I am a mystery
lover. I love Sue Grafton, Sara Paretsky,
Diane Mott Davidson and now you!!! I find them hard to put
down... the mark of a true good book. Keep up the good work... thanks
for the enjoyment...!!!" Sue
In Houston, I had a hairdresser who was (and probably still is)
named Marla who worked in a salon that was an old train caboose. She
was a little blonde thing about 22 who could work magic with hair, but
I don't think she
has your Marla's curiosity or nerve. Since moving..., I haven't
found that special magical person who can make my hair be my crowning
glory, so I'm jealous...Tell your publisher that December is too long
to wait for the next book which I will
get as soon as it is available. " Lee
"I just had to write to you and let you
know how
much I enjoyed Permed to Death. I picked it up at work (I'm a
librarian) the
other day, as I always have enjoyed the "Partners in Crime"
books. I
absolutely could NOT put it
down, much to the dismay of my husband and
son. I look forward to reading your future books." Brenda
"I just finished reading your book and wanted to let you know how
much I enjoyed it. I finished it in three days. I didn't
want to put it down. Marla is a great character and I look forward to
reading about her future adventures in your upcoming books.
" Stephanie
