Born in Seattle and raised in Edmonds, I grew up drawing trees and painting seascapes. I loved the water and the woods, but was also fascinated by the architecture and density of the Emerald City nearby.
My current artwork synthesizes nature and the built environment into paintings that communicate the character and history of homes, public buildings and landmarks. My passion for painting architectural themes led me to open Outside In Studio, providing clients with personalized architectural portraits.
I majored in painting at the University of Washington and transferred to Parson’s school of Design in New York where I studied painting, sculpture, ceramics and photography. Upon returning to Seattle I entered a teacher certification program and completed my studies with a Master’s in Education from Antioch University.
My teaching career included 15 years of teaching art and interdisciplinary curriculum in public and private schools, museums and enrichment programs. At the university level, I worked with prospective teachers in a certification program, guiding them in school internships and teaching classes on Interdisciplinary Curriculum and the Arts.
