Keyboards on Rick Lee's "Natick"

Rick used an old Roland MKB-200 midi keyboard controller through an old
Yamaha C1 (Toshiba 80286 clone with midi and smpte ports) running Voyetra
SP-gold to a Roland SC-55 sound canvas for all keyboard voices except
organ. Organ was played through Yamaha FB-10, with l/r detuned.

All instruments were generated this way except vocals, Rick's banjo,
Andy's and Holly's guitars, Andy's mandolin, Joel's Fiddle,
and Ray's drums (on "The Harvest," only). All other drums are midi,
"rubber band" guitar on "Lights Across the Bay" is midi.

On all tracks, a midi file was created first and laid to adat with
smpte. Then all acoustic parts, including vocals, were laid to adat.
Mixed to r-dat, songs frequently lost all the midi tracks which had been
used as deep structure. The r-dat was mastered to CD and duplicated.

The product appears mostly acoustic, which it truly is. The piano and
bass "sound" pretty much acoustic. The full midiclutter is unleashed
only once, in the final chorus of "I Made the Prison Band."
