Artist's Statement
We are 3 brothers, carrying on a rich family tradition of bringing the beauty of nature into your home. Our pieces are one of a kind as we work to bring out the finest grains and natural character of each piece of hardwood. Each piece was once a tree, on our property here in the little town of Liberty, Michigan. We put care into every step of the process from tree harvest, through processing, then years later, as we put on the final hand rubbed finish.
Our furniture is built primarily from hardwoods for strength and toughness which include Red & White Oaks, Black Walnut, Black Locust, Cherry, Maple & Hickory, with some softwoods such as Poplar & Red Cedar mixed in for additional aesthetic flavor and color mix.
Our hardwoods are matched with time honored strength of mortise & tenon joinery to create ever lasting heirlooms. Our woods are naturally seasoned and prepared on-site, with minor checking and cracking as a normal result of the process, but does not effect the beauty or performance of the products. Meticulous fitting and finishing creates the beautiful yet practical pieces that will be useful for generations to come.
Pileated Woodpecker
These are quite rare around this area, but we are fortunate enough to have them living in our woodland. They have become our mascot due to their "woodworking" nature and also because they are habitat providers as they cut a new nest every year.

MY SECRET GARDEN is not only our shop, but also is the family woods and wetlands nestled in the headwaters of the Grand River in south central Michigan, where we harvest & build these creations. Our shop is located in a little village of Liberty, Michigan. We offer a wide variety of additional natural handmade crafts, unique picture frames and nature photography, revering the uniqueness and variety nature offers us.
