Eugenia Lushtak Scholarship

An endowed scholarship awarded yearly in honor of the late Eugenia Lushtak, piano teacher of 40 years and sister of Nelly Berman.

This scholarship is granted by the Nelly Berman School of Music on the basis of achievement, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence in music.

Mrs. Eugenia Lushtak radiated a love of music to all around her. She rejoiced in music making and infused all her students with the same  wonder and excitement. Her abundant energy knew no obstacles. No illness or difficulties of life would keep her from attending any concert or opera. She was a devoted and supportive mother to her daughter Faina, a gifted pianist and composer.  Faina Lushtak is now chairman of  Tulane University Music Department. Eugenia, or Genia, as she was known to her family, is deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live through music.
