Mission
The wish of the founders and Board of Trustees of the NBS Classical Music
Institute is to make music more accessible to the community. These objectives
have been recognized by the National Guild Community Schools for the Arts,
which gave full membership to the School in 1995. The Institute's mission
statement includes the following objectives:
- To teach music education and appreciation to all
students.
- To challenge all students to achieve their
greatest potential.
- To develop through music performance: student
confidence, poise and general personality development.
- To educate the community through free public
performances and lectures on classical music.
The Institute was started by
Nelly Berman and David Lefkovitz and parents of the Nelly Berman
School of Music to raise funds to offer scholarships to talented music
students. The Institute hopes, through grants and benefactor's contributions,
to develop a program of music education which will be accessible to children
who would not otherwise have access to the high caliber teachers of the Nelly
Berman School. |
