Scope of this section is limited to branches in Kentucky other than Henry and Shelby Counties.

Fulton (was Hickman) Co. KY

Fulton Co. was separated from Hickman Co. in 1845. These Shuck's lived in that part of Hickman that became Fulton. Also, note that the town of Hickman is located in Fulton County.

It appears that descendants of two Shuck ancestors migrated to what is now Fulton County, Kentucky.

  1. Andrew-2 Shuck Jr. (1775-1830) (Andrew-1) and descendants went from Henry Co. KY to Hickman Co., KY, now Fulton Co. KY, about 1829. Andrew-2 Shuck Jr. reportedly died Oct 27, 1830 in Fulton County. It appears that he was accompanied by (possibly shortly preceded or followed by) two sons, Andrew and Edward. Another son, John (1797-aft1850), apparently migrated sometime after 1829 as he is not shown in the censuses in Hickman or Fulton until 1850. Two daughters migrated to Hickman/Fulton sometime after 1830: 1) Sarah "Sally" who m. Cleavurs Swift. To Hickman between 1830/1840, in 1840 census, she d. bef 1844, he remarried and in 1850 census at Obion Co. TN; 2) Margaret "Peggy' who m. Abraham Kimberlain. A "Margaret Kimberland" in 1850 census Fulton Co., look-up pending. "Abraham Kimberlan" was in 1830 census Henry Co., no entries found in KY for 1840. It is presumed Peggy migrated with her husband and children, but not proven. Elizabeth Shuck who m. Owen Magruder went to Howard County, MO; he died in 1837; not sure what happened to her afterwards. It is not known what happened to three children of Andrew Jr.: daughter Mary Ann b. 16 Feb 1807, son James b. 28 Feb 1810 and an unnamed child.

  2. The two children of John Young Shuck (1813-1845) (Andrew-1, John S.-2) and Martha F. Lyle (1820-1868) migrated to Fulton Co.: Capt. William A. "Billy" Shuck (1839-1926) and Elizabeth Precilla "Bettie" Shuck (1843-?). Dates of migration not known, but probably after the end of the Civil War (1865) and/or death of their mother (1868). Billy married 1) 1870 to Lida Kennedy (no children) and 2) Bertha (Tabitha) Alexander 12 May 1876 at Fulton Co. (4 children). Bettie married 22 Aug 1871 at Fulton Co. to A. J. Mason. Supposedly had three children; look-up in 1880 census pending.

    Had 11 children, but only one daughter survived to give grandchildren:
      Margaret who marr. Wilson M. Bacon.  Farm passed to Bacon descendants.

    Listed in censuses: 1830 Hickman Co. KY, 1840 Hickman Co. KY,
      1850 Fulton Co. KY, 1860 Dent Co. MO, 1870 Shannon Co. MO
      (Note: Not listed in 1860 AIS index for MO but record found on
       schedule.)
    In 1880 his second wife and children were listed in census
      at Shannon Co. MO without him.  Presumed he died 1870/1880
      at Shannon, Dent or Texas Co. Missouri.
    In 1858 was remarried at Dent Co. MO to Rhoda (Rody) Shelton.
    In June 1859 performed marriage at Dent Co. MO as Justice of the Peace.

Oldham Co. KY

A James P. Shuck enlisted Sixth Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment U.S., Co. B, mustered in 11/1/61, age 24, gave as residence Oldham Co., wounded 4/7/62 at Shiloh, mustered out 11/2/64. No further information on him or ideas as to possible lineage.

Bullitt Co. KY

A John Shuck born 1816 is described in Civil War Muster rolls as having nativity of Bullitt Co. KY. He was in Indiana circa 1850 and by 1860 was in Henderson Co. IL (census) where he died and was buried with his wife Elizabeth and some of their children. Parents unknown; possibly descendant of Andrew.
