Shuck/Shook Family Books

The following are the major books about the Shuck/Shook surname which I have found through various references. I have not actually seen most of them and in many cases do not even know what lineage they describe. This list is divided into two sections where: 1) The Shuck/Shook surname is a major subject and 2) The Shuck/Shook surname is cited in just a few places.

Many of these books have been microfilmed by the LDS Family History Library and the microfilm copy is available at the main library in Salt Lake City or at local LDS Family History Centers (about 3000 worldwide). FHL catalog information is noted and was current as of February, 2000. In a few cases, the microfilm version is labelled "VAULT" which means it is not immediately available in the open cabinets at the main library at Salt Lake, but is located in the Granite Mountain Vault and must be specially ordered on a 24-hour turnaround. Check with FHL or FHC. In some cases, materials which the FHL library has a hardcopy at the Salt Lake Library are not available on microfilm. This is typically because of copyright restrictions. See LDS FamilySearch Resources for more information.

Some books may be available through inter-library loan, a program through which libraries borrow materials not in their permanent collection. Generally, family history books are part of libraries' reference collections and do not circulate. However, I have been able to find and borrow many materials I did not expect, so it is usually worth a try. See Inter-Library Loan for more information.
