Johannes SCHUCK (1730-1804), (prob. s/o Johann Martin SCHUCH), md. (Berks Co., Bern Twp), 12 Feb 1753 Mary Margaret WAGNER (prob d/o Hans Jacob WAGNER).
Johann Martin SCHUCH and Hans Jacob WAGNER arr. Philadeplhia on 2 Sep 1749 on ship "Albany". Johannes and Margaret lived in Bern Twp., Berks County, 1752 to 1768, lived in Penn Twp (Northumberland, Synder Co). 1772 to 1795 and Washington Co Ky 1795 where Johannes died. During the Revolution he served in Michael WEAVER's Company Northumberland Co Militia. Johannes was one of four men who founded Rows [Row/Rowe/Rau] Lutheran Church in Snyder Co Melchios STOCK, Micahel [sic - s/b Michael?] WEAVER, John SCHOCK and George ULRICH warrant for 60 acres for purpose of erecting a church (Lutheran), 4 Apr 1776 land located in Northumberland Co joining land of Martin TREASTER, land late the property of Conrad WEISER, deceased and land of George RAU (ROW). There are some of the family group charts made up for John and some members of his families, therefore no addition members will be listed. The "Parker Book" by Wayne V Parker does an excellent job on most of this family. Like wise the "SHOCK FAMILY HISTORY 1730-1979" by Irene FERVERDA and Pauline WHITE (Dec 1979) covers the Adam SHOCK family in a very concise manner.
John (Schock) Shuck applied for 300 acres including spring of water on 11-2-1772; also 200 acres of 12-18-1772. In 1796, John and his wife Margaret sold 250 acres of land in PA. Deed can be found in privileges to operate water mills in 1769 (He was a miller).
They then moved to Washington Co., KY, near Springfield; and he entered land there. His wife Margaret died about 1802, and he died in 1804. His estate was not settled until 1810.
This passage seems to conflict with two other reported facts: 1) That "all" passengers on the 1749 Albany were Wurttembergers from Erbach and 2) that ancestry of John Martin Shuck (1723-1804) has been traced back to Andreas Shuck (1672-1772) of Wurttemberg. Wurttemberg is geographically distant from Alsace-Lorraine. What apparently IS consistent is that John Martin Shuck (1723-1804) married 12 Feb 1753 at Berks County, Pennsylvania to Mary Margaret Wagner (although I have not seen a primary source for that).
The above information is from or consistent with the Parker Book. Subsequent research has apparently found that John Martin Shuck was born 1723 in Unterheinreit Parish, Erbach, Wurttemberg, Germany (not 1730, which was previously given as his birth year). He was son of Andreas Schock (Schoch/Shook), born probably between 1668 and 1708 (age 15-55 in 1723), probably in Wurttemberg, Germany, possibly in Unterheinreit Parish, Erbach. Andreas married probably between 1693 and 1723, probably in Unterheinreit Parish, Erbach, Wurttemberg, Germany, to Anna Magdelena (surname unknown). Died after 1772. However, I don't have the source citations for this.
