Here is the pictures of eyes how they are not suppose to look!!!
Eye photos on the puppy were taken 3 months after the cherry eyes` surgery was done. One of the best European ophtalmologist refused to remove cherry eyes on Neapolitan Mastiff puppies, tacked them back down and stitched, saying that he knows what he has been doing in his practice.
Well, there is no way that the puppy`s eyes will get better on their own in future (since it is 3 months after the surgery was prepared), and this kind of eyes is what anyone wants to avoid !
The new surgery is required to take off all the stiches and remove infected cherry eye gland.
The eyes you can see on the pix below is what unacceptable for the dog in the show ring in any country. It is one of the examples when a dog becomes just a pet or/and more likely will get blind after 1-2 years old as the cut gland was spread all around the eye and pulled out too much from the eye ball harming an eye.
Then what is the need to save extra tear resourse and tack back down the huge infected eye gland (piece of meat) if the dog will become blind after all? Is it worth it?
The question you must ask yourself before you agree to tack the gland back down on Neapolitan Mastiff (Mastino Napoletano) !
