Joseph Neary is
a contemporary
artist whose brushes translate to canvas the many moods of America's
land,
sea and sky. He was born in New York and spent his early years
sailing
and fishing along the Eastern seacoast. While still a young man,
he and his family moved to California's Monterey Peninsula. Life
along the seacoast inspired Neary's first paintings.
Joseph Neary's
powerful paintings reflect his experience as a competitive sailor, and
his keen eye for the windswept restlessness of the ocean and shorelines
of New England and Northern California. Neary's paintings bring to
life
the ever-changing environment of surf and sky, of rail-down sailing
ships
fighting wind and current, steadfast lighthouses and peaceful harbors.
In
1979 Joseph
Neary captured the hearts of wine lovers and critics alike with his
painting
of "Sea-Wolf at the Lighthouse" for Kenwood Vineyards Artist Series.
The
Chicago Tribune wrote, "There was a time when the contents of a wine
bottle
was what sold it. Now what's on the bottle is turning heads." USA
Today wrote, "The next time you buy a bottle of wine, you may be
tempted
to frame it before it ever reaches your cellar."
Today, Joseph
Neary's paintings continue to captivate collectors of fine art,
adorning
the walls of private and corporate collections in America, Canada, and
Europe. From these highly coveted paintings, limited color
reproductions
are now available for international distribution.
