CHICAGO--There was a time when
the
contents of a wine bottle was what sold it. Now what's on the bottle is
turning heads. Referring to California artist Joseph Neary of a
sailboat passing a lighthouse for Kenwood Vineyards 1979 Cabernet
Sauvignon,"Artist

WINE
SPECTATOR
Kenwood's 79 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Artist
Series," is quite a stunning wine, and stylish at that. The label with
a racing yacht by Joseph Neary may be the finest yet since
Kenwood
introduced the series with the 1995 vintage.

The next time you buy a bottle
of
fine wine, you may be tempted to frame it before it ever reaches your
cellar.
Let's see----- a Picasso from Chateau Mouton Rothschild the drawing
room,
Joseph
Neary from Kenwood Winery Sea Wolf at the lighthouse and a
Lichtenstein
from Hargarave in the Conservatory. In the future, a wine's label may
be
just as important as its bouquet. Wineries are dressing up their labels
with artwork, and those catching the most attention are the artists
series
on Mouton from France, Kenwood from California and Hargarave from Long
Island New York.

VINEYARDS
Some of the most popular Artist
Series
that have been released to date boast labels featuring many different
periods
and styles of artwork ranging from Impressionistic to Modern. Some of
the
most popular include the 1979 sailboat, by Joseph Neary, the
1981
Golden Gate Bridge, and the 1989 "Jacqueline" by PICASSO.
