Guidelines and Point System
The following guidelines will be used to determine the series champions.
1. Legal Age Rule: All competitors must compete in their chronological age at the day and time of the tournament entered.
2. All competitors are required to have a birth certificate or other equally valid document that substantiates their date of birth. Competitor, Parent, Legal Guardian or Person who is responsible for transporting to or overseeing the Competitor at the tournament must have a birth certificate in their possession at each tournament. This documentation must be produced at the request of the rules arbitrator, tournament coordinator, or tournament promoter. Failure to provide a competitor's birth certificate or other documentation may result in disqualification.
3. All Black Belts of any rank will compete together.
4. All Junior Black Belts of any rank will compete together
5. Under Black Belt Competitors must compete in the rank group corresponding to their rank.
6. If there is only one Competitor in an event. That competitor will be awarded the GOLD MEDAL and all points will be earned. The competitor will have the option to compete in the next highest rank group in their age division and forfeit the gold medal and all points earned. All points and awards earned in the higher rank group will be awarded and earned.
7.Boys and Girls will not compete against each other in ANY Point Fighting Event except for demonstration matches only.

For each
tournament Weapons Forms, and Kata
event, the 3 Judge’s combined scores will determine placement of each
competitor.
A. The highest score will receive a GOLD MEDAL
B. The second highest score will receive a SILVER MEDAL
C. The third highest score will receive a BRONZE MEDAL
D. The fourth highest score will receive
a CHROME MEDAL
E. All other competitors will receive a smaller medal.
9. For
each Point Fighting event, the majority score of the 3 officials will determine
if a point is awarded. The first competitor to reach 5 points in 2 minutes or
less will be declared the winner. If the time has expired before a competitor
reaches 5 points, the competitor with the most points will be declared the
winner.
A. The competitor who did not lose will receive a GOLD MEDAL
B. The second place competitor will receive a SILVER MEDAL
C. The third place competitor will receive a BRONZE MEDAL
D. The fourth place competitor will receive a CHROME MEDAL
E. All other competitors will receive a smaller medal.
10. During each tournament, if there is a tie for any Weapons Forms, or Kata Event the competitors who are tied will have to compete again to break the tie. If there is a tie a second time the judges will determine the winner by a majority vote.
11. All entrants will receive point values for each placement based on the rank group that they are competing in. Point Values are:

12. If a series competitor has been promoted or has a birthday that places him/her into the next highest age group before the start of the next tournament in the series that competitor must move into the higher age or rank group. Parent, or Legal Guardian or Person who is responsible for signing for the Competitor must state this on their application for entry into the next tournament.
13. Earned point values will not be reduced if a competitor has to move to a higher rank or age group due to promotion or birthday.
14. A championship will not be awarded in any division unless the competitor(s) has competed in at least 3 tournaments. If a competitor has competed in 4 tournaments and there was no competition, a championship will be awarded.
15. The competitor who finishes the series with the highest point total will be the series Champion (except if rule 16 is effective). If there is a tie for the Championship in any event the competitors who are tied will have to compete again to break the tie. If only one of the competitors who are tied is present at the final event that competitor is awarded the Championship.
16. A
competitor may win the championship without having the highest point total if:
A. That competitor moves up to a higher RANK division and has 4 first place
medals in more than one RANK division.
B. That competitor moves up to a higher RANK division and holds the most first
place medals between the other competitors.
Awards
Tournament Awards
1. Competitors finishing each event in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place will be awarded a large medal.
2. All other places will be awarded a smaller medal

Series Awards
1. Competitors finishing each event in the series with the highest total of points will be awarded an engraved Championship Trophy. The trophy will be awarded at a special banquet to be held after the final tournament. The winning competitor and one guest will be admitted to the banquet at no charge. Banquet location, date and time will be posted before the last tournament.
