POWELLS' CORE LIST
OF BOOKS IN
ASTRONOMY

In Core List of Books and Journals in Science and Technology (1987), the editors, Russell H. Powell and James R. Powell, Jr. state that "the purpose of this book is to bring together prime choices of English-language books and journals in the areas of contemporary science and technology... We preferred recent books, with imprint dates in the 1980s... We included those that dealt with a particular topic that contributed substantially to the continuity of knowledge in science and technology. Wherever possible we included books that have withstood the test of time and had been published in previous editions." The following list contains the editors' book selections in astronomy.
