How to get thrown out of the gym Coaches Understand that this is not the NBA. What it is is the probably the last chance for you to coach your team. AAU basketball for some players starts the minute this tournament ends, and after that is high school. Make this last hurrah a positive experience for your players. Set an example by letting the referees do their job. It is the responsibility of every coach to make sure that all players and fans behave. By this point in the season all coaches are aware of any players or fans who are not always in control of their emotions. Make sure you deal with these issues BEFORE the first game. Players
No matter what you are allowed to do in your league or other tournaments, here is the only thing you can do here: Play hard. We will not allow trash talking, attempted intimidation, complaining to referees, excessive rough play or any other inappropriate behavior. Just play the game. Parents and other fans The small admission charge you pay at the door covers the cost of cleaning and (partially) the cost of liability insurance. It does not buy you the right to scream at the referees. Keep things positive. The tournament director The tournament director is not the board of appeals for any coach or parent who thinks the referees are “the worst I’ve ever seen.” The tournament supports the referees. They make good calls and bad calls. Accept it. Coaches, players or fans ejected from a game cannot attend the next game (do not say you were not warned)
