Steve Caddick and Avalon
to Headline Sunday Night Jazz TAUNTON, Ma. –

By Rick Foster

Love the sound of a banjo and early 20th Century Jazz and pop music?

Then you’ll love the Great American Banjo Jam–a come-one-come-all happening featuring some of the area’s best grassroots jazz musicians. You can also get in the act and sing or play along or just listen at the jam 6 p.m. April 20 at Steve’s Backstage Pass, and top off the evening with a full performance by Steve Caddick and Avalon.

Steve’s Backstage Pass is located at 15 School St., Taunton.

Caddick, of Seekonk, Ma., is one of America’s most respected banjoists, rendering everything from nostalgic ballads to rousing tunes like "Alabama Jubileee"– when called-for with that faster-than-the speed-of-thought style born during the heyday of traditional jazz.

Avalon, Caddick’s trio, has been featured at clubs, festivals and concerts throughout the U.S.

The great American Banjo Jam begins at 6 p.m. Steve Caddick and Avalon take over at 7:30. Admission is $6.

Sunday Night Jazz is hosted by music journalist and performer Rick Foster. Steve’s backstage pass offers full bar service, tasty desserts and appetizers, and a family-friendly cabaret atmosphere.
