Neville's style, described as "showing
off before the company" demands machine-gun speed,
flashy fingering and a powerful, accurate left
hand-- his left hand speed and total accuracy will
take your breath away.
One of few British jazz pianists
to have recordings on the Hit Parade, he has played
hundreds of radio broadcasts over the BBC, both solo
and with his trio. Always in demand all over the
world, he regularly tours in Switzerland, France,
Belgium an Germany. Described as relaxed and
self-confident, convivial, brash and sensitive at
once, and remarkably versatile, Neville is able to
evoke the styles of Fats Waller, Willie "the Lion"
Smith, James P. Johnson, Jelly Roll Morton, and
other classic pianists, and capable of doing it
phenomenally well. This was Neville Dickie's
only performance in Massachusetts, a one-night
stopover at the Inn during his busy tour.
The Sherborn Inn, home of the
popular weekly traditional and swing jazz series is
now in its 13th season. Word of the high
caliber of music and the enthusiastic and devoted
audience at this local establishment has
spread to the world jazz community. International guests always receive a warm
reception, and keep returning when in the States. The Sherborn Inn is located at
the junction of Routes 27 and 16 in Sherborn, MA and
