Louis Ford leader/clarinet/tenor sax; Leslie Peer Martin
piano, Jamelle Williams trumpet, Frank Williams trombone, Henry
Bantel string bass, Herbert C. Wing banjo, Julian Garcia drums.
This band of homegrown musicians exemplifies the fun and
excitement that IS New Orleans, and they can be heard all over that
city. They have performed with Harry Connick, Jr., Winton
Marsalis, Joe Williams, Al Hirt, The Dukes of Dixieland, Pete
Fountain and many more. |

One of New
Orleans' premier young clarinetist, Louis is the son of Clarence Ford, a phenomenal musician whose career spanned three decades,
25 leading the Fats Domino band in New Orleans.
Like his father, Louis is an accomplished clarinetist and saxophonist and truly dedicated to the preservation of jazz.

| Garcia was
featured on drums in Latin rhythm on a exciting Mama Inaz,
with Louis on tenor sax. and Wing on electric guitar. Next,
Sheik of Araby, Kid Sheik's
theme song, was wild. Louis explained that Araby is a town ten
minutes out of New Orleans. And we always thought it came from
Arabia. |
 |
Henry Bantel is
featured on string bass, while pianist Leslie Peter Martin plays rhythmic
embellishment on Joe Sullivan's Little Rock Getaway. |
| They segued from a
sweet ballad Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans,
to a rowdy Ice
Cream and finished with Saints - Louis says it's the most requested song in New
Orleans. Director Ross announced that this fine New Orleans band
would definitely come back next year! |
