23rd The Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz Festival
Jeff Barnhart's Swing Seven

Jeff Barnhart searched the country for some of our finest jazz musicians, and judging by the lack of empty seats at all their sets, this was one of the favorites at this festival.  Noel Kaletsky reeds, Bob Leary guitar, Jim Fryer trombone, Ed Polcer cornet, Frank Tate string bass, and that Whirling Dervish, Dan Coots, on drums.

Frank was featured on Jazz Me Blues. Ed Polcer’s bossa nova version of America The Beautiful was brilliant. What a pleasure to have these world class musicians playing right here in the neighborhood!  (I haven't seen Frank since 1998!)

Fryer took the lead on Creole Love Call with Noel on soprano sax, and Jeff whistling Adelaide Hall's legendary solo.   Barnhart said "Talk of the Town is usually a ballad, but not for this testosterone laden band”.  That they were, and it wasn't....."a limpid ballad".   Wild!

Danny Coots

Jeff Barnhart

Great sound with an upbeat Three Little Words. Jeff took the vocal on You Brought a New Kind of Love To Me, with Jim on Euphonium.   Exuberant, enthusiastic, exciting, energetic, band - never a dull moment.  Invite them all again next year, Jeff!!

Ivory and Gold, with Jeff & Anne Barnhart, and Danny Coots drums, can be heard all over the country.  Check out their schedule at www.jeffbarnhart.com
