Heartbeat Jazz Band and Triple Play

at The 22nd Annual Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz Festival
July 25-27, 2008

Heartbeat Jazz Band with Fred Vigorito cornet, Sherman Kahn reeds, Jimmy Mazzy Banjo, Ben Griffin trombone, Scott Kahn bass, Bill Logozzo leader/drums, and Washboard Slim's vocalist, Cynthia Fabian.

When we arrived, they were warming up the early crowd with Cynthia Fabian singing  Big Butter and Egg Man, and the front line only with a wild After You've Gone.  Scott Kahn was featured on bass guitar, On The Road Again, then they turned-about with Jimmy Mazzy listening to Jesus, pleading as only he can, for a Closer Walk With Thee.  The ensemble's high notes reach all the way to heaven, and the prayer ended with a classic Jimmy Mazzy shriek.

...and the Heart of the Heartbeat Jazz Band, Bill Logozzo.

Indefatigable Bill Logozzo says "There's something about this music.  You can see it in the audience's eyes.  It's a communication that goes on and on...  a communication between the players and the audience.  All the barriers fall!  There is joy, a happiness, it's a wonderful place to be whether you are participating or listening".

Keep communicating, Bill!

The Heartbeat Jazz Band continues at Oliver's in Essex Ct. on the 1st Thursday of the month, 7-10pm
