1 Tue 8:15pm Herb Pomeroy Tribute Concert at Berklee Performance Center, 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston MA.  Berklee will present a concert in memory of Herb Pomeroy featuring the Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Greg Hopkins.  Those of us who had the privilege of studying and working with Herb will always remember his inspirational teaching, the beauty of his playing, his sense of humor, and the warmth of his friendship. By performing music written by those directly inspired by him, we hope to celebrate his artistic legacy. With Herb it was always about the music, and this concert promises to be a most wonderful evening of music and great memories. 2 Wed 11am-noon Jim Fryer and his band, Celebration Jazz, will be doing their 10th annual concert for the 8th grade at Adams Middle School in Guilford, CT. 3-27 various Sisters of Swing at the Stoneham Theatre, 395 Main Street, Stoneham, MA 02180  This book musical follows sisters LaVerne, Maxene and Patty Andrews from their early days on the road through their rise as recording stars to entertaining American GI’s overseas to dissembling over differences. The score intermingles over twenty hit songs like "Bei Mir Bist Du Schon," "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree" and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." This show goes beyond the ordinary to offer a unique perspective into these women as human beings, showing how the events of their lives shaped who they became to the rest of the world.  tickets

5 Sat 8pm Electric Junkyard Gamelan at the Amazing Firehouse, Hollis St. Framingham, MA. While studying Balinese Gamelan in graduate school in 1997, Leader Terry Dame became intrigued with the high energy interlocking rhythms and the amazing ring of overtones created by the ensemble of metal gongs and xylophone-type instruments used in traditional Balinese music. An inventor by nature she began experimenting with making mainly percussion instruments out of found objects and junk from the local scrap yard. Thus was born the Electric Junkyard Gamelan.

Dr. Snyder was the Director of Music at the Packachoag Church in Auburn.  She will be performing on the historic Hook Organ.

The Stompers make up a seven piece Dixieland Band consisting of a trumpet, trombone, clarinet, two banjos, tuba and percussion. The band was formed in 1985 by Bill Kass (tuba) and Paul Gookin (reeds) with Mike Palmieri (trumpet) and Bob Campbell (banjo & vocals) who continue to play today. more...
