Shorty Rogers and Marty Paich were the first arrangers to showcase the unique sound of this group. We are honored to play these arrangements as a tribute to Don Fagerquist, a Worcester born trumpet player. |

Paris Washboard
will be appearing at the Bickford Theatre in Morristown, NJ the day after the
New Wolverines, a world class Australian band, play there. This exclusive East Coast stop is their first visit to the US in two years. Given the plunging dollar and the escalating cost of flights, future visits are in doubt, to say the least.
Hope you'll spread the word among jazz fans, since there are few opportunities to hear either band in this region. The Bickford Box Office is at (973) 971-3706, and they can supply further information and sell tickets over the phone. Previous visits have resulted in sellouts, so caution anyone coming from afar to order tickets ahead of time.
Daniel Barda, Alain Marquet and Girard Bardot will be on this trip, but Louis Mazetier must fly directly to the Orange County Classic in Costa Mesa, their ultimate destination this trip. We'll have Jeff Barnhart at the piano. He has subbed for Louis several times for festivals and cruises where Louis was unavailable, so the performance won't suffer.

Miss Tess is a young songwriter, guitarist, and accomplished jazz singer currently involved in the thriving Boston music scene. with help from her band, “Miss Tess & The Bon Ton Parade”, in which she is accompanied by upright bass, sax/clarinet, drums, and a lead guitarist,
Bruce Millard. Miss Tess is the Modern Vintage Queen. Her melodies and lyrics are very real and current, yet definitively infused with reveries of 20s and 30s swing, jazz, and blues. Fans are often surprised to learn that most of the songs are original. You can tell that she is an old soul would who has spent a lot of time listening to the wistful melodies of classic jazz and blues. This will be a special event for jazz, big band and blues fans alike |

Band

Formed
in 1981, acclaimed for its firm but flexible grasp of the hot and danceable
tradition from
New Orleans
to early swing, the Blue Horizon introduced classic jazz to the Sherborn Inn
in 1989. Stan McDonald’s passionate soprano sax and clarinet, Jeff Stout’s
stirring trumpet and Gerry Gagnon’s gritty trombone Creolate a pungent front
line. Backed by the cooking rhythm of stride pianist Ross Petot, the
simmering guitar/banjo of Eric Baldwin, the full-bodied string bass of Al
Ehrenfried, and the lean drumming of Dave Bragdon, the members – whose ages
span five decades – dig to the roots of jazz and present a varied and
succulent repast, fulfilling their motto: The Future of the Music with a
Past! |
