October 12th, 2-6pm, Jane Campedelli has organized a JAZZ REUNION of  members of the East Bay City Jazz Band, Heritage Jazz Band and Steamboat Stompers, coming together once again to re-create those wonderful times in the 70’s and 80’s. Venue: The Precinct,  70 Union Square, Somerville MA   $10 cover. Flyer...     Music room is full, but there's still seating in the adjacent room with a bar with flat screen TVs throughout where people can mingle and get reacquainted.

Jazzfest Falmouth,  Friday night on Main Street and Saturday outdoors in Marina Park overlooking beautiful Falmouth Harbor, part of a Cape-wide weekend-long celebration of the arts sponsored by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and Cape Cod View magazine – Fall for the Arts. There will be other events in Falmouth, Hyannis and Dennis. An open door stroll down Main Street on Friday night with jazz in restaurants, shops and galleries. This "jazz meets symphony" concert will feature the Black Eagles in a full set by themselves, followed by a symphonic set with the Pittsfield City Jazz Youth Orchestra. This is a new ensemble, complete with strings (from the Pittsfield Chamber Orchestra), comprising student musicians from 6 high schools in Berkshire County (the two public high schools in Pittsfield, plus Dalton, Lenox, Great Barrington, and Lee).

The New Black Eagle Jazz Band plays a vast repertoire of original and traditional jazz, including early New Orleans, 1920s Chicago, 1930s small band, the revival of the 1940s and 1950s jazz. Arrangements include “The Mooche” by Duke Ellington, “New Rag” by Scott Joplin, “East St. Louis Toodle-oo” by Duke Ellington, “Shake It and Break It,” “High Society,” “Grandpa’s Spells” by Jelly Roll Morton, and more.
