Molly Malone with Gypsy jazz ensemble Sinti Rhythm.
A musical entourage featuring vocalist Molly Malone and friends. Molly, long recognized for her flirty, vintage style, combines the pulse and repertoire of the early swing era with the nuance and intimacy of a chanteuse. Tonight she shares her talents with a new and exciting gypsy jazz ensemble,
Sinti Rhythm. The charm and virtuosity of their 1930s Parisian style,
string-based rhythm reminiscent of Django Reinhardt's Quintette du Hot Club
de France, is irresistible. Please welcome for the first time at the Sherborn Inn,
Jack Soref - guitar, Rob Saunders - guitar, Andy Moore - clarinet,
Matt Ambrose - bass, with special guest, Matt Glaser on violin. Sherborn Inn, 33 N. Main St. Sherborn MA (508) 655-9521 $10 |

Blue Horizon Jazz
Band
at the Sherborn Inn, 33 N. Main St. Sherborn MA (508) 655-9521
$10 admission.
Formed
in 1981, acclaimed for its firm but flexible grasp of the hot and danceable
tradition from
New Orleans
to early swing, the Blue Horizon introduced classic jazz to the Sherborn Inn
in 1989. Stan McDonald’s passionate soprano sax and clarinet, Jeff Stout’s
stirring trumpet and Gerry Gagnon’s gritty trombone Creolate a pungent front
line. Backed by the cooking rhythm of stride pianist Ross Petot, the
simmering guitar/banjo of Eric Baldwin, the full-bodied string bass of Al
Ehrenfried, and the lean drumming of Dave Bragdon, the members – whose ages
span five decades – dig to the roots of jazz and present a varied and
succulent repast, fulfilling their motto: The Future of the Music with a
Past! |
