            January 2009

December is a wonderful month for everyone.  We made a Christmas tree out of cardboard and had the children draw and put their hand prints on it.  We also hung up all of our children’s pictures on the Christmas tree, along with small gift boxes, too, which made our tree dimensional!  Art projects made by our little ones were using transport’s ink on a small Christmas tree and this season’ stickers on a paper candy cane.  The children were so busy and had so much fun making their special projects!

Katie’s family joined our class to celebrate Katie’s second birthday!  A great big “thank you” to Katie’s parents for providing a yummy birthday cake and for allowing all of the toddler room children this great occasion to celebrate with Katie!  All of the friends enjoyed the delicious cake!  We will miss Katie very much after she moves on to the Blue Room, but we know she will enjoy her new class, new friends, and new teachers!

“Happy New Year!”  We hope each family enjoyed their holiday vacation!  It is time again for us to start another great year!  We will have a broad variety of things to learn and discover!

January will be a great beginning for the toddlers to start working more on their language skills.  Our little friends talk all day long, and we look forward to seeing everyone when we return from our holiday break.  So many of the children develop so quickly over the holiday season.  It is hard to picture them growing so fast; physically and emotionally!

This season of winter will have the children learning to recognize new colors, such as silver, gold, red, white, and green.  We will also be singing new songs along with the carols of the past month.

“Chinese New Year” will be celebrated on Monday, January 26, with the children doing a Lion Dance, and a wonderful family potluck.  We look forward to our families attending this special celebration!

“Happy Birthday, Grandma Rose!”
